I've made a mesh of an open notebook and I have looked for days on how to UV map it. I've watched so many Youtube tutorials and everything but I can't figure it out, I always make things way way too complicated for myself. How do I UV map this? And can't I add the images (paper texture/cover) in photoshop instead of Blender? How do I even get this into S4Studio. I'm sorry I promise I have looked everywhere! This is the side view This is the top view This is the bottom (the cover)

highlight all of the mesh in edit mode, and in go into uv/image editor. next, go to mesh, uv unwrap, and unwrap now it is in your uv thing and you can edit it and resize it however you please after you click on new and resize it. i suggest 2048 x 4096. this will work for ea's template next, go into world in the toolbar and have ambient occlusion and environment lighting clicked. set ambient occlusion to 1.75 and environment lighting to 0.75 next, go to the render tab and click normalized and clear. make sure the bake mode is ambient occlusion and margin is at 4. then click bake after that, it should save the texture of your mesh. you don't have to use this texture, but it does save where you put your uv in blender. just save it, pop in s4s, and play with the image in photoshop or something

I recommend seeing this beginners' tutorial for uvmaping. In my opinion, it's very easy to follow and it teaches you how to use seams while doing your uv which will make things much less complicated. As for the texture, since you've created your mesh from scratch you'll have to create your own texture from scratch as well. This is done through baking. I've tried looking for a short and concise tutorial but i've only found long ones with unnecessary extra steps. So i'm liking this tutorial from SLYD that is for clothing, but the method is pretty much the same.

inabadromance I watched that video several times =\ I don't understand how to mark seams on an open notebook though. I understand how to bake from several tutorials including SLYD's. Where I'm stuck is actually creating the uv map as well as how to important it into studio after that.

REMI if you're still unsure how to work with seams after watching the video then i suggest you doing it manually piece by piece. Change to face selection and go selecting each chunk you want to map by parts until all the mesh is mapped. for example, create a new image. Select all the paper parts, and press unwrap just like annabluu posted above. Accommodate your UV where you want it to be. Then press A to deselect and select the all the rim of the paper and unwrap it. Same with the rest of the mesh. As for "how to import it". You need to import the mesh and the texture separately. Import the mesh on the "mesh" tab, and the texture in diffuse. You export your texture from blender as anna posted above, and how it is explained in SLYD's tutorial.
