Hi there. I am trying to remove the table runner in EA's Formal Mission Dining Room Table. I managed to delete it in blender and even fill the holes in the mesh perfectly BUT when I go to recolor it my texture is all messed up with a dark line in the middle of the table where i joined the holes. This has put me off finishing how many creations. I get everything working perfect BUT I don't understand textures and UV mapping. I will post a pic if required I've just got myself so confused now I just closed everything. So will have to start again to show a pic. The second pic is where i deleted the runner in Blender and the first is what the texture looks like with the edited UV. I am willing to follow a tutorial as I've searched for my problem but can't find any.

Okay! When you first open the blend, in object mode (solid mode) i can see right away something going on the sides. So let's just fix that first. Change to edit mode, still on solid mode, pick face selection and disable "limit selection". I find this set up to be the best for working during meshing since you see exactly how the mesh is going to look like. Hover your mouse over the dots and press L to select all the side of the table like it's shown here. Click on Remove doubles, and then press Y. Y un links the side from the top part of the table. Press A to deselect. You have to do the same on the opposite side. ----------- As for the mapping of the top part. When joined the uv mapped got messed up and it's totally understandably. You have two options depending on what you're planning to do. If you want to map the top as an independent full part then select the mesh as shown in the picture just as you selected the side, press 7 to change to Top View, and head over the UV to pick "map from view". If you want to maintain the uv texture from the table then you'll have to cut the UV in half. Remember to cut where the edges are clean and not intercepted by other vertices as shown in the picture. With the top selected, press CTRL+i to invert selection. H to hide. Now press A to select all again, click the Knife tool and while holding CTRL hover one edge until the green dots snaps exactly in the middle and click, move your cursor to the extreme oposite and do the same. When those two dots are done, press Enter. Head over to the UV tab, and click unwrap. You can then select half of the UV from the table. Press CTRL+M and X to mirror on the X coordinate. Press G to translate and while holding CTRL move your mouse to the other side of the UV to overlap it exactly. Now you can resize and move the UV to where it used to be. To UNHIDE what was hidden, press ALT+H.

Thank you so much inabadromance for taking the time to explain this in detail to me! Much appreciated! I will go through it in the morning when I have no distractions around.

I tried both your methods but don't know if it's just something small that I'm missing. I've redone it again and again and even made a new UV but it still doesn't work. It looks better on the table top but the pattern is still deformed on the sides of the table top, and on the sides.
