How did you delete the normal and specular maps? What you are seeing is the very edge of a ? projected on your object meaning that the game can't find one of the textures it needs. You should never delete the Normal or Specular maps. You should just make blank versions instead.

Can you share your package and blend file for us to look at? We can't really help without seeing those.

Your thumbnails work perfectly. I just loaded up the hair in my game. Are you sure you've deleted the correct file? You need the one in Documents> Electronic Arts> The Sims 4> localthumbcache.package
Unrelated to the thumbnails, but if you plan on releasing this publicly you will need to fix the texture for your hair as there is a lot of skin showing on the ends on the hair sections. Two strands at the back appear to be missing parts of the mesh as well.

Open your object in S4S and go to the Warehouse view. Find the Object Catalog of the swatch that you want to show up first and select it. On the right, find the DevCategoryFlags. This will most likely be set to 00000080. Change the 8 to an A and save your package. Unless anything has changed since the last time I did this, it should now mean that the swatch you chose will be the first in the game.
Failing that, you can also play around with the values in the SwatchColorSortPriority field, found further down from DevCategoryFlags. Smaller numbers come before bigger numbers.

Is this an object you are creating or just something you are trying to do in the game with normal content?

Having worked with counters quite a bit, there's only one thing that comes to mind that you could try. There might be other options but this is all I could think of. If you go into the Model and ModelLOD resources and click through to where you can edit the shaders, click on Edit Items... next to Material instead, for the light group of your mesh. In here you can add an entry for "UseLargeLotObjectLighting" and set it to 1. I would do this by copying the "UseVertSelfIllumination" entry and changing the Field to "UseLargeLotObjectLighting" and the 0 to 1. This setting seems to enable the same type of seamless shading that counters have but the downside is that it prevents the groups it is assigned to from recieving shadows. This shouldn't be an issue in your case since you can't cast a shadow onto light in the real world anyway.

I'm so glad that I remembered this thread existed! I was just having the exact same issue of thumbnails generating in the wrong position. Deleting the S4S documents folder and forcing it to generate a new one fixed it. I saved my pallette folder and settings file before deleting the folder and I was able to copy them back over to the new folder without issues.

The object needs to include seating slots for the Sims to actually sit in. Deco objects don't have these. There need to be slots for Adults, Children, and Toddlers.
Could you not just clone an actual chair and change the shader settings to allow transparency?

When the mesh stretches across the screen like that it usually means your mesh has bones assigned to it that the original item you cloned from did not. I'll let mauvemorn go into detail about that as it appears to be their area of expertise whereas I know comparatively little about CAS creation.

I've honestly never had any problems using the method I linked to. I've actually fixed black line problems on my own earlier CC by using the method of a png with solid white background so I'm not sure what the difference is but so long as you have found a method that is working for you.

Your package link and the last link both direct back to this page and the blend link says the file has been deleted.
