I went back to the base model (robe with human hands) and tried the plan I had originally considered when I started, which was resize the UV of the hands to fit within the original handless texture. It gives me this The robe looks fine, but now he has bacon hands, and he's STILL missing a chunk of his arm, which isn't missing in Blender!

So I tried to follow the instructions, and I was able to put the hands back on, but when I imported it, the texture was off. There was a hand on the back of the robe, and part of the robe on the hand, so I went back and altered the texture to fit over the the body (i put a child skin under it, and transformed it to fit), but that didn't do any good. I went back to the video and realized I missed the part about UV mapping, so I tried to follow her instructions, and it only made the situation worse. Left alone, it looked fine in Blender, but not in S4S, but when altering to UV to fit the new texture, it completely distorted the appearance in Blender. I figured "Hey, it looks bad now, but it did in the video too, and her project turned out fine in Studio". So I took it back to S4S, and.... It's five times worse now. Suddenly there's no hands again, AND the texture is twisted every which way! I'm on the brink of tears at this point, I don't know what I'm doing wrong!!

So for a while, I've been wanting a child robe to match the Oracle robes, but I couldn't find anything of a similar shape anywhere, so I've resolved to altering the Yoda robe to suit my needs. For this to work, though, I need to remove the Yoda hands. I tried deleting all the facets, and it LOOKED like it would work, but when I imported it into S4S, the child had no hands, Yoda or human. I thought maybe it was trying to apply the old texture, so I cropped the hands out of the texture and imported that back in, and no change. I'm not sure why, but something urged me to set it to LOD 3, and suddenly the flesh texture from the body covered the area that was once the Yoda hands... Not really the fleshy hands I was hoping for.
What am I doing wrong? This is my first time using Blender, first time dealing with meshes. I only ever deal with textures, please help.
