I'm trying to recreate the Sims 2 Mission walls, which means I think I need new normals/bumps and new speculars. I've read some things about both of these, but I'm not at all sure I understand very well. I'm using paint.NET as my image editor. I've been studying the barn walls to try to understand what I need to do, but...several questions arise. One big question that arises is that the bump map I is quite obviously transparent but when I look at the properties paint.NET says it has complete opacity. I've been eyeballing the opacity but is there a number I could just use? Another question is that the specular just looks uniformly black for the barn walls-I assume because it's weathered wood & should have no shine. If the Mission walls are polished wood combined with plaster/wallpaper/fabric, should I bring the highlighted areas of the wood up just a tad from black? Can I do this in greyscale and not fuss with the different kinds of shine in the RGB channels? Since there's no transparency, can I avoid introducing an alpha? Or, since the wood bracing might be construed to cast shadows on the interior panels, is it worth struggling to handle that via alpha? Hi Lucy! I'm unsure about the bump map so I won't try to answer that question, but I am quite curious as to what process you're using to 'recreate' the Sims 2 walls. Are you making them from scratch, exporting the textures with simPE and reworking them for Sims 4, or editing a pre-existing Sims 4 wall? Knowing this info would be beneficial for me (or someone else) to help you!

Hey there, fellow Simmers! I haven't posted much on the S4S forums, nor have I introduced myself, so here we go!
My irl name is Riley. I'm a 20-something Michigander who lives with her twin sister and our 2 cats, loves the feeling of a perfectly fluffy blanket, and has a penchant for pasta. I've played The Sims since Bustin' Out! came onto the GBA and eventually expanded my horizons when I got a PlayStation 2 and The Sims for Christmas one year - it was over before it even started. LOL. My presence has been in the Simblr community since The Sims 4 arrived in 2014, but didn't start creating CC until April of 2016. I started with hair and clothing recolors but quickly became bored with it, which made me take an almost 2-year-long break from Simblr. I eventually returned in late 2017. Now I make skin details, makeup, furniture and CAS retextures/recolors. I'm not super consistent with posting much of anything, but I got a new rig so I'm hoping to get back to it very soon. Fingers crossed! My favorite game in the franchise is definitely The Sims 2 for PS2 (probably a nostalgia thing, if I'm being totally honest) but...I really freakin' love The Sims 4. That's a hot take for some people, but despite all of the crappy glitches and a lot of mishaps, I still think it's great. With the expansion of the game itself, the sheer amount of creativity & inspiration in our community and amazing CC that I'm able to download personally makes my TS4 experience exceptionally awesome.
When I'm not Simming, you can find me listening to hardcore punk and noise music, decorative planning, scrapbooking, writing/reading poetry, playing video games (World of Warcraft, Fallout, Animal Crossing and The Elder Scrolls are just some of my faves outside of The Sims), cooking, or improving my graphic design & digital illustration skills. Oh, and I love to cuddle my cat, too!
That's enough rambling lol. I'm excited to introduce myself and will hopefully be more active as I start to create more CC. Thanks for having me!

I finally got it! The Alpha wasn't done correctly, and the composition method wasn't correct either. Thank you!

I'm following laracroftfan1's blush tutorial, located here: sims4studio.com/thread/5431/make-blush-works-male-female But when following the steps correctly (I think?), I'm unable to get the blush preview to show on the S4S model. It looks like nothing is there. I'm using Photoshop CC 2015 on Windows 10 Home and my S4S version is 3.1.1.5 Wishes. Thanks in advance!
