MisterS was quoting me, and while it has changed in the latest version, I can't blame him for not knowing that the code just changed in this latest version. Even when I am on the mac, I use a "windows" style mouse. Maybe since I don't know about that, even I shouldn't be working on a mac version of Studio

Sorry to butt in, but would it be maybe possible to provide the link for the older release (Appletini) in the beta thread? I'm a weirdo who doesn't use mouse at all (yep, even in Blender) – I can't be the only one, can I? :D More to the point - I don't see the bug bluebellflora mentioned (I'm still on Sierra though), but overall Candy Apple is kinda slow for me (2,5 GHz Intel Core i7; 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3).

Hi stuff, we can upload Appletini as the "community-tested" version. The hesitation about doing that in the first place was caused by the fact that even before the Mac OS update, many people had problems with its model viewer, and the reason for those problems is still not clear. We would like to ditch it completely because it doesn't work for everyone. Candy Apple is using different code for the model viewer as a result of that. So far, except for the issue bluebellflora ran into (the cause of which is still unknown), most people seem to have a functional UI and model viewer with Candy Apple.
As I said, Candy Apple was put out earlier than, perhaps, it would have been under ordinary circumstances because so many people who were using it had a non-functional model viewer, making it impossible for them to do anything for Sims 4 on their Mac. We wanted to get something out that would allow people to get back to modding Sims 4 even as we knew it was going to need more work. The alternative was letting everyone wait for weeks to months while the tool was perfected. The current plan is to continue working to optimize Candy Apple's model viewer and speed. One thing that should be noted, however, is that progress on the Mac version is not as quick as that on the Windows version because no one on the team uses a Mac under normal circumstances, so testing is a bit more difficult as are optimizing code and troubleshooting.
Our hope was that releasing Appleseed (the first Mac version of Studio) would stimulate the growth of a community of people on Mac here at Studio forums so that people on Mac could help each other. Unfortunately, that hope has only been partially realized, so in many cases, people on Mac are kind of stuck getting help from our team and none of us use Mac. We're doing our best so that, unlike previous versions of the Sims, the members of our community who use a Mac aren't left out of the modding side of the game.

orangemittens re: Appletini being linked as community-tested – I think it would be a great idea, if it's not too much of a bother (I had to downgrade). BTW, I'll be eternally grateful to you and to Andrew for the Mac version of s4s. I was never interested in making cc – I was happy about Appleseed being released because I could finally merge my downloaded cc :P. But well, it was "once you start, you can't stop" in my case. I still use Appletini for CAS stuff and basic cc upkeep, but I bootcamped my older computer essentially just to use the object side of s4s (I have a really convoluted setup, but it kinda works for me – at least until full support for objects comes to Mac version of s4s xD). I apologize for this long-ish drivel, but I also wanted to give a little background to my comment about speed/performance – s4s was always slower for me on Windows side, but Apple Candy is definitely slower (for me Appletini works great, like any other native macOS software). As for the community of Mac users part – I think most of Appleseed/Appletini users were quite casual ones (I'm aways surprised how many people don't know Mac version of s4s exists). Plus many people still Bootcamp their Macs to play The Sims (even now that it's native). There are just not that many established cc makers using Macs who would feel comfortable giving advice, or Mac-specific advice. I hope it will change!

MisterS Ok andrew whether or not you continue to work on the Mac version is of course up to you. But as a Mac user there is nothing more frustrating on help forums than people who have no idea about the operating systems/hardware setups of Macs giving 'advice'. The assumption was made that all users use a specific type of mouse when that simply isn't the case. It's wonderful that you are providing a Mac version as support for Mac Simmers has always been woefully lacking. Hopefully now with the addition of objects you'll be reaching out to a wider audience. It's also very frustrating that some of us experiencing bugs cannot post them in the bug forum for you but I kind of understand why.

stuff Yes, that's exactly the same for me I have no interest in CAS so have been using S4S in a VM so I can edit object textures using Photoshop in macOS. It became such a long, drawn-out process that I never really got into it too much but now we can do that all in macOS it's great. Candy Apple is performing relatively quickly for me but I have to press the buttons a couple of times for anything to happen and entering text never goes smoothly. If I type a word it normally ends up with duplicate letters, like I've pressed the key twice instead of once. It is feeling buggy but is still useable so I'm happy to put up with it. The Warehouse issue is still there but flicking between the tabs seems to kick it into action... sometimes.

Hey guys, I would really like to merge cc, but I don't know how I can do that on a mac. I know that with windows you have to do it with tools, but i can't find a tool button in the sims 4 studio candy apple. Does anyone know what i should do? Thank you so much

The new mac version, 1.2.0.1, has improved the camera controls in the model viewer. You should no longer need a middle mouse button, and the rotation now works in all directions. I've listed the new controls below. These are subject to change in the future.
Mouse: Rotate - Right-click and move the mouse (or two finger press and slide on the trackpad) Pan - Left-click and move the mouse (or one finger press and slide on the trackpad) Zoom - Mouse wheel (or two finger slide on the trackpad)
Keyboard: Rotate - Shift + Arrow keys (or WASD) Pan - Arrow keys (or WASD) Zoom - Page Up/Page Down (or Q/E)

bluebellflora I have both a mac and windows computer. My mouse is not the native mouse you're describing and has all kinds of buttons. if i was to give you advice it would have been the exact same copypasta. also he's a mod and it's not a very good idea to tell someone who answers questions all day that you don't need their help cause you may in the future. regardless of them getting one question "wrong". Spool is a general tech term used by mac and windows alike.

Thank you! Are there any future plans to re-implement the rotate gesture (moving two fingers around each other) on a trackpad, like in Appleseed/Appletini?

Is anyone else having problems with the program crashing? Mine does every single time I try to upload a CC through the My Projects tab. I just want to change the tags. It's been this way since I switched from Appletini to Candy Apple yesterday.
