I had such a hard time with my previous fireplaces and the vertexpaint. I uploaded it here before and the person who checked it noticed that the mesh with vertex paint somehow does not export with vertex paint, so for some reason s4s does not see the vertexpaint and deletes it off my mesh, since it doesnt show up in the game as well. I had to use a new mesh to fix the problem. Now i am busy with my new fireplace and I noticed the same problem. The vertex paint does not show up in the game and it is gone when you export the mesh. I think this might be a problem with s4s, since it happens for the second time. Is there something that can be done here? Mesh file (I uploaded it with vertex paint, but u wont see it): www.mediafire.com/file/egfote413qk340o/-FUR-%20Fireplace%20port%20design.packageHere is the blender file with vertex paint: www.mediafire.com/file/3l0mmgaijd1mm2n/vrtx.%204blend.blend

Hi! Thanks for sharing the files. I tried re importing and exporting the file and it lacks vertex paint afterwards. I tried re painting the exported version and re importing it again and it does the same. What version of S4S are you using? Maybe it is a bug, i'm tagging andrew & orangemittens to see if they've heard about this issue before.

Hi, i want to report that i have the same problem again. I have the latest version of s4s 3.1.0.5. I had the same with the previous version too. I have tried this in multple files now and without even saving the package, it already happens. I just import the vertex paint mesh and then export is, and the vertex paint is not there.. I have created a fresh new mesh and it still happens. I do not know what the problem is.. I am going to try it with different fireplace mesh now and without importing specs to see if it maybe is related to that.

I used a different fireplace mesh from EA and now it seems to work. But i had this before and then for some reason if i open the package file later again to adjust something simple like the price, the mesh seems to be effected by that and gets the same issue again. I think in general, this is a weird issue.
I used the EA mesh: 'heat seaker fireplace' that had this problem. All though i cant say that this is causing the problem. I think i also used 'infernovision wall fireplace' before where the same problem occurred. Hope you can find the solution with this info. Going to test it in my game now.

I've added this to the list of issues that need more investigation.

I've had a chance to look at the packages and a couple EA fireplaces. The issue with the Heatseeker fireplace not importing vertex paint is that this fireplace was not set up by EA to have vertex paint. The original does not have vertex paint so Studio simply doesn't know what to do with that information and ignores it. The Manoir fireplace does have vertex paint on the original, and if you clone that one, a vertex painted mesh will round trip with the vertex paint intact. I'm not sure what you mean about mesh problems related to changing the price of the object. I would need to see the package and the original (pre-price change) .blend to look into that.

I think this is simply the answer. The heatseeker fireplace can not be cloned and then edited with vertex paint, cause of the reason you described. That is clear fr me now thank you finding that out! I will use another fireplace from now on. The thing with the price was just something i thought was the issue, but it seems that in any way the exported mesh will not have vertex paint on it. I guess this isue is solved then THANKS!
