The next Mac version will have the following changes that will hopefully address some of these issues: 1. The texture compression code has been replaced with the (newly released) Mac version of the texture compressor that the Windows version is using. This should significantly speed up anything that has to do with viewing images, exporting them, and importing them (importing was the slowest before and is now very fast). 2. Updated the tools used to compile the Mac version to the latest stable version. I had to use an alpha version before, at first to support High Sierra, and again due to a bug in the stable version. It is possible that there were other issues with the alpha version that did not affect the Mac I am working on but did affect other setups. 3. Disabled the image thumbnails in the Warehouse tab. After speeding up the image processing, the Warehouse was still slow on packages that had lots of images in them. I found part of the reason and fixed that, but until it is completely optimized, I think that it is better to disable them. This speeds things up a lot scrolling through resources in the Warehouse. 4. Fixed a bug that caused packages to not be fully closed. This would result in Studio getting slower and slower with each package it opened, even after closing the package until Studio was completely closed and re-opened. There are also some other small fixes like crashing on previewing certain objects like the ones in the debug menu. The new version will be available by the weekend if all goes well. As always, thanks for the amazing work and effort! Can't wait for this newest update. Been really missing S4S.

piesims, the fixes listed above were all in the last version. It still may be slow for you since the problems that you reported were related to the speed of the 3d preview itself rather than the Warehouse tab or texture importing. If you are still having slowness, could you post the specs of your mac?

I'm not piesims, but I'm still having extreme slowness – I still have to close s4s after each package (even closing the first opened package AND closing s4s each time is very problematic, the closing button/menu doesn't really respond). Warehouse scrolling only got better in a sense that the scrolling bar is immediately visible (but works impossibly slowly, so it's not really an improvement). But I can finally batch fix my stuff, so thank you so much for the update! My specs: MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), 2,5 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2048 MB (and Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB), macOS 10.12.6 (Sierra).

For me the new version did not really improve at all. It is so slow to the point where the response time after clicking something (anything really) is up to a minute.
I have the same specs as piesims.
Thank you anyway for the new build. Its highly appeciated.

andrew I'm having the same difficulties as anidri, it's been relatively impossible to use because of the lagging and nothing will close unless I clear the menu under recently opened. My specs are the same as piesims as well, except I have macOS 10.13.2 (High Sierra). Thanks for all your hard work, I know you're doing your best to accommodate creators.

andrew, I don't want to be one of these annoying people but: is there gonna be a new build that will be useable for mac? Is it all mac users experiencing this or is it just users with specific specs? Is there anything that we can do to our systems in order to run S4S better? I really miss my S4S its just such a genius program and I would just like an update. I really miss it. Thank you in advance!

This slowness issue is still being worked on. It does not happen on all macs, but it does seem to be widespread. Strangely enough, older slower macs like mine don't have the problem at all. I am testing on a mac that has this problem now and making code changes that will fix it. It is going well now, and most of the slowness issues are fixed. I'm still testing and working out the other related issues that arose after the slowness was fixed.

Hello,
I am new to S4S. When I try to open CandyApple it tells me "can't find game path." I tried to follow the general problems instructions by orangemittens config game path but I get an error. I have High Sierra 10.13.2. I have not had any problems with previous versions of S4S giving this error only since CandyApple. Could someone point me to MAC specific instructions for config game path? Thanks for any help.
Disregard figured it out.

It seems that Mac has had an update (High Sierra) and perhaps that is making the program run slow, its making my sims 4 game run slow actually. I did my first CC! I recolored a tank top aqua using GIMP for mac and Candy Apple. I'm so proud! I have the Early 2015 Mac 13 inch Retina Display Intel Iris Graphics 8GB memory.

Thanks for working on this issue, S4S is unfortunately so slow it's virtually unusable to recolor objects (batch fixes and merging work fine). These are my specs if it can help: macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 Processor 1,6 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 And maybe walls and floors included in a future update?
