I've been working on converting the sectional dive seating from TS3 into TS4 recently with the help of brujah. I'm aware that AdonisPluto has released his own conversions of the seating over at MTS but I've been working on these for months and they do have some advantages. Unlike every other piece of sectional seating created for TS4 so far, these ones function like counters. By that, I mean that all of the pieces are contained under a single catalogue entry. You can place them with "Auto Counters" on and the corners will be placed automatically for you, or you can turn "Auto Counters" off and have access to the extra end pieces and the stand-alone chair. I've edited the seating slots as well so that Sims can sit correctly on the inner corner piece and two Sims are able to sit on the outer corner piece at the same time. There is a known glitch on the inner corner piece that I don't think I can fix due to the tuning I've used. All of these seats are "technically" loveseats meaning the game expects them to have more than one seating position. If you direct a Sim to sit in the inner corner by clicking on the back of the seat then the Sim will route correctly but then scoot into a seat that doesn't exist and "snap" into place in the middle of the seat. It doesn't cause any gamplay issues other than it looking weird. Finally, I've added a medium deco slot to the back corner of the inner corner seat as well. We can't have that surface going to waste. You SHOULDN'T need to have moveobjects activated to place these seats correctly but you MAY need moveobjects on to place decorations into the deco slot if the seat is placed up against a wall. There is currently only one colour variation. I plan to add more once I know they are working correctly for everyone. I'm also going to tweak the floor shadows a bit to remove the slight overlap. You may want to add the ignore columns tag on the footprint for the outer corner. I tried placing four outer corner pieces together then putting a column in the middle. I had to turn on MOO to place it.

How do I do that then, Brujah? I can't find a tag with that name anywhere.

It isn't specifically named that way, I forgot about that, and I didn't say how to get there, OOPS! On the footprint resource (EA88675B4EC72182) click the Edit Items button next to Object Polygons | | Make sure to select the list item that has the Placement flag checked
In the first set of Intersection Flags check the Columns flag | |
EDIT TO ADD: While digging into this a little further regarding footprints, I recommend changing the shape of the rounded corner/stand alone chair footprints. If you're curious what the footprints actual shape is you can take a look at my tutorial HERE

Okay, I'm back with an updated package file. simfil.es/458995/I have applied the 'ignore columns' flag to all of the seating pieces apart from the two stand-alone seats. When I was playing around with different configurations involving columns, that seemed the best solution. The footprints for routing have been updated so that Sims hopefully no longer clip through the seats when walking around them. I also spent far too long tweaking the floor shadows to prevent overlap or gaps between the different segments which can be seen in the original screenshots. That was not as straight forward as I was expecting it to be. Any further feedback would be most welcome and encouraged. Oh! As for animation "glitches", I have also discovered that Sims can 'scoot' seats around the outer corner piece (or crawl in the case of toddlers) which isn't correct but it doesn't look terrible if it happens. It's not a directable action but Sims might do it depending on where they are sitting when you direct them to converse with other Sims. The usual musical chairs stuff basically. On a side note, I only just now realised the original TS3 colour choice is a dingy brown and not, in fact, red as I had incorrectly remembered.

Fantastic work menaceman! How did you get all of the different meshes out of the package? I'm looking to convert the sectional sofa that comes in roaring heights.

Well as this one came with Late Night I could just extract the meshes straight from TSR Workshop. I'm not quite sure how it works with Store objects yet though. I've been told you just need to convert the sims3packs to package files and that TSR Workshop should then be able to open them but I haven't got that far yet to try. There are at least two Store sectionals I want to attempt to convert but not until I've got the EP ones done first. Heck, I still have to finish this one yet! It's been put on hold while I get my mods updated and checked for the recent Jungle Adventure patch.

Yes, this is how I've gotten all the meshes for the build/buy stuff from roaring heights. Unfortunately when you open the sofa in TSW, it will only give you one mesh to export. It doesn't seem to give you the corners/end pieces. :-/

If I find anything out of any use I'll be sure to post about it.

Then use S3pe to open the package file. All the sectionals will be available there. You can now export the parts that you want

As an update, you can try this with TSRW. When you convert your Sims3 store pack to package file, use the import button to import the lackage file into TSRW. Even if you get an error while importing, just continue till you get to the model page. Now do the following, go to EDIT-PROJECT CONTENTS, select all the resources You See in the project content page, RIGHT click and select REMOVE. When there are are no more entries in the project contents window (it is completely empty) Select IMPORT and choose FROM PACKAGE. from the open window, navigate to where you have the sectional sofa package file you converted, select it and choose OPEN. The package will be imported into TSRW. When finished importing, sometimes you may not see the full files. What you should do is click OK, and it will take you to the model page again. You may not see anything here. Just go to FILE-SAVE, and save it as a .wrk file. When finished saving, choose FILE-OPEN and open the .wrk file you just saved. This will open the sectional sofa in TSRW with all the sectionals included.

After much fiddling around I finally found a way to extract each mesh using s3oc. Send me a msg if you'd like a link to the files.

Sorry AdonisPluto, I only noticed your method AFTER I'd fiddled around with s3oc. Yours was MUCH easier to do and will come in handy for future projects. Thank you!

Thanks so much for the info AdonisPluto! I've finally gotten around to adding a second colour option now and I was wondering; do people prefer the distressed wood on the front or the clean wood? Or should I do a version of each colour choice in both distressed and clean? The second design is based on the actual original design from TS3 with proper colour choices this time.
