Studio forums just got a "like" button for posts. To use it just click on the thumbs up button that is directly to the right of the quote button in the upper right corner of someone else's post. Your name will appear in very small text at the top of the post letting that person know you liked what they posted. I hope everyone will use this feature freely, that they don't use instead of, but rather in addition to positive/constructive feedback, and that it improves the forum.

Why even try to be Facebook?
Why not just say, "Hey - this is cool and I really appreciate you uploading this.....blah, blah, blah.".
It's the Blah, Blah, Blah....that connects - not the easy Like, like shi°°y FB. (My own thoughts.)
The Like button, mastered by some Harvard Pric° who scre°ed his Friends over was quite an accomplishment for the Ad Industry. It has evovled into a Quickee Dysfunctional method of expression; Skip the words and reason - Let's Fast Food our thoughts and feelings about any and all given subjects, with a LIKE.
Rock on that, not into it.

I understand what you're saying and can sympathize with it. On the other hand, the Like button can be used to lend tone/nuance to a text post that is given in conjunction with the Like so it isn't necessarily a replacement for communication unless it's used in that fashion. In fact, I've just used it to like your post in spite of the fact that I don't agree with you entirely. In this sense it's like a smile to go along with the words.
Often times, too, there isn't much to be added to what someone else has said but a response of some kind is wanted. This is especially the case in situations where it may not be desirable to have loads of text posts breaking up the flow of a thread...the Challenge thread is a good example of this use for the Like button. Within a forum, the Like button can come in handy and I don't think it's quite the same entity that is seen in other online formats where the culture centers around using the Like button to the exclusion of discussion.
To me, a Like button is different than something like a Disagree button. I think that if one expresses disagreement communication is improved if there is some explanation for that disagreement. For this reason, Studio will never have buttons such as Disagree or Dislike.

@lod48 I couldn't resist giving your post a like for the irony Hahah! Andrew - Here's the Double Irony, when I was typing the post, I actually thought to myself: "I bet someone is going to LIKE this, just to get on my nerves....". OM: Yes, I agree about making the threads smaller - it can be Handy for that, it's just that "LIKE" terminology that gives me the creeps. It is a Facebook word and a lot can be said about FB, in general. My experience with FB: About a year ago I lost my Job, we had a new Manager take over our Store. He was the type that looked for ways to get rid of people, to save money. His way to get rid of me, after 18 years of working there - "I heard you were talking about placing a Bomb in the Store...". Out of the blue Garbage to get an emotional rise - Which of course, I did give him. A neat Trick to Fire someone for getting angry @ the Management. Of course, I took them to Court and won a small settlement - could have been better if my German Lawyer had drank more Coffee on that particular morning; forgetting paperwork in his Office and ...general fight myself in front of the Judge. The Ultimate Insult: THEY DOWNLOADED MY FACEBOOK HISTORY to try and get me to keep my mouth shut in Court. Hence, whenever I see - "LIKE", it reminds me of that day in Court and reminds me about FB. If you have FB, I can personally tell you that "Private Settings" are a JOKE. All major Corporations have Tools to look @ anyone on that site. Hopefully, none of you will ever run into some Foul Management Scheme @ your workplace.
