Hi! I'm trying to find the option to toggle whether an object functions off the grid. I didn't see anything in the tuning files or in the tags.
I've tried adding the value Tooltip_offthegrid in tags and OffTheGrid in ObjectTooltip tags. Neither of these worked.
Is it possible to alter this behavior with studio?

I'm definitely interested in this. I'm looking to make some cc candles function off the grid (As well as the wall candle hanger that isn't tagged for some reason?).

Not sure why it isn't working for you... I added it into ObjectTooltipTags (with a value of 0) on one of my CCs and this is the result:

aldavor I get the message in the description box just like you do, but the shower and bathtub I tested did not actually function.

I've just looked at the light for myself, and it's a basic tuning definition for all lights i.e. turn on this light, this room etc and buried within one of the game tuning xmls is the requirement for power. I've loaded the xml into the object and removed the requirement and it turns on and off but all the other pie menu interactions are there but greyed out. Sorry but it looks like none of the lights are supposed to work off grid.

Have you looked at the Island Living shower unit in Build/Buy (called In Or Out? - Outdoor Shower)? Perhaps could be a good idea to check and compare values between what you have and that object?

aldavor I have compared every value I could find between a off the grid shower and a non off the grid shower. I went through the tuning too and did not see any differences. I could have missed one in the tuning, but there wasn't anything obvious.

I've just done a base game shower/tub, and it's got the same pie menu working components as the Island Living one... did you remember to amend the tuning name and ID in ObjectDefinitions Resource? Tuning name is: showerBox1x1_EP07LUXoutdoor and tuning ID is: 213078

liseyrose : pyre : Try changing the ObjectDefinition type, tuning name to: object_light_table_GarlandCandles and tuning ID to 188834That will allow you to turn just that light on and off. Hope it does what you need

Changing the tuning ID doesn't really solve the problem though. If you want to enable a shower with unique tuning or for instance a bath that doesn't work at all. The tuning code on showers includes <T>212246<!--shower_TakeShower_OffTheGrid--></T>
Custom tuning for a shower should just involve adding that line, but what about a bathtub? Can that line be changed to allow for bathes to fill off the grid?

icymoons : I've looked at the tuning resources, and can't see anything specific for bathtubs; however there is one called 'showerBathtubFC_01_OffTheGridCompatible' which does include bathing activity. Perhaps try that as the tuning resource for the objectdef?
ETA: just tested it, and no, it just adds the shower activity. Bathing still indicates that power is needed :(

That only includes the action to take a shower in the bath-shower combo objects in the list of super affordances. It does not enable baths.

Baths require power, but refrigerators don't?! I don't think they thought this through... (rofl)
