Hi folks. I've been thinking of getting started making some mods that aren't as simple as what I've done before, and I honestly have no idea where to begin.
Basically, I want to create 2 things:
I'm not kidding myself. This sounds like a massive amount of work that would likely take me months, but I feel like it would be way easier if I at least knew where to get started. Does anybody know which tuning files belong to holidays and festivals so that I can add/modify things such as traditions, holiday decorations, festival goals, etc? I know this is probably very complex and out of my league, but I figured I could just ask to see if it's doable for someone not-so-well versed in tuning files and modding but who's still willing to learn. Thanks people!
Basically, I want to create 2 things:
- A Pride holiday with the Seasons holiday system, with traditions such as Proud Spirit (this could include interactions like Come Out, Show Support, Wish Happy Pride, etc) Wearing Rainbow Clothing (which I guess I would do by designing a few Pride-related outfits and marking them as costumes, kinda like the Costume Tradition from Spooky Day?), Decorating with Rainbow Decorations (like, when you create a holiday, you can pick what kind of decoration to associate with it—I'd like to create an extra 'category' that's 'Rainbow', and it automatically adds rainbow decor on that holiday), and cloning&renaming the Attend Ceremony rabbithole tradition to Attend Pride Demonstration, or something like that.
- A Pride festival in the style of City Living festivals. I would need to figure out how to edit the festival grounds, modify food stalls and merch stalls to add rainbow decorations on them, figure out how to be able to sell rainbow festival shirts and merch. A 'makeup booth' would also be awesome. I thought maybe if I can figure out how to modify the makeup categories available in the Vintage Glamour Vanities and clone one of them onto another object, sims could get LGBT+ face paint, or something. I would also want to take the "Protest" interaction from the Politician career to add a demonstration, where you could click on the ground and "Demonstrate for LGBT+ rights" and have other sims watch/join. Also, taking the "Give Speech" podium interaction from the same career and changing it to "read manifesto" or something like that. Additionally, I want the NPCs that attend to be wearing rainbow clothing from the It Gets Better update, kinda like when they show up to GeekCon in costumes. I was also thinking of cloning the tea from the romance festival, renaming it to Fierce Juice and having it give a Confident boost to sims. And finally, I wanted to figure out how to create special characters that can't die (like Father Winter or Baby Ariel), so that I could have Drag Queens showing up to the Festival, maybe reading to kids as a sort of nod to Drag Queen Story Hour.
