Thank you for the instructions! Will the game see the cloned chair as a different object? Will all chairs disappear from my custom builds saved to the gallery? What chairs are affected? Only desk and dining chairs? I might be wrong as I have yet to test it myself (Since it'll take me all day to go through everything and I don't want to risk it if it's going to break anything) but I have seen people saying that this individual fix will indeed make all chairs disappear from already placed lots. (As I said, I could be wrong, but that's what I've seen)

Hello, I don't know if the bugs I've encountered are eligible for a batch fix but I just wanted to share what bugs I've seen so far. Maybe other people have them too? This is the sidebar from windows. It's so glitchy. - I can place basically nothing, even base game objects. The only objects I can place are walls, roofs, wallpapers, floors, that stuff. Windows, doors, trees can't be placed. The items I click on simply don't get picked. This is resolved when I turn off CC. Hello, I had the same problem, it was due to the tmex-expandablecatalog. It already has an update and then works again. TwistedMexi has some new updates.

Why is it suspected not to be batch fixable, this cant be a more difficult issue than the window/door issue from that window patch. Everyone is prolly willin to wait whatever time it takes to make a batch fix, I am just curious why this issue seems to not meet batch fix qualifications, we made it this far with ea never changing something so severely a batch fix was undoable, are people just assuming its too hard or has it been confirmed by the batch fix creator/maker that all chairs are a lost cause unless individually fixed? I got 14 separate save folders, this kind of thing could make the game forever undesirable if I have to redo 568 gigs of cc over some damn chairs. Reading a batch fix won't happen is scary, id kinda prefers if people didn't assume one or way another unless they actually know if it won't or will, basically I guess I'm asking WHO is the one that will actually announce "yes we can" or "no we can't " and I can take that word for it so I know if I am giving up on this game finally. 5-6 years of fighting CC to work is probably a monstrous headache to the people that create batch fixes, so my contention is not one of impatience, I can wait however long, my issue is too many people 'guessing' at things and not knowing whose word to take as gospel on the subject. I'm with you, just thinking of having to redo my entire CC catalogue of cc chairs definitely puts a damper on the entire game experience. CC and mods is the MAJOR reason I'm playing the game, and I can take hours on end every patch updating mods, I've no problems with that. But redoing the entire CC catalogue is just too much. And even if/when I get used to the idea, I have SO many merged files - so it would take weeks to first unmerge everything, and then hunt down the updated files, and then update the rest manually myself. I'm hoping there's another way somehow.

I'm not a modder, so I can't verify this, but someone in one of my Discord channels mentioned that the "Renumber" option must be deselected when making the fix for cc chairs, so that you don't have to manually replace the old chairs with the new versions.
Hopefully this is right, and if so, hopefully it helps out a bit, because it would be a *huge* pain to literally replace every chair in every lot in every world :\

I tested the suggestion of not checking "Renumber". However I found that my Sim could sit if the chair was not attached, but not if attached to table.

I tested 'renumber' as well and had the same result.

Unfortunately the renumber has to be checked, as thats the core of the fix. And the chairs have to be replaced.

Omg, this is insane, S4STUDIO team have done a lot already, and compared with the complexity of windows/door batchfix, I don't understand why ppl are saying it's not batchfix eligible, since seems it just has to check a new tag... Sorry for my ignorance. I don't mind waiting at all, since I know there is a light in the end of this tunnel.

The reason I started to fix the chairs myself is because Cidira a Studio Member, mentioned that is probably not possible to do a batch fix. Normally I don't post stuff, but I do read stuff. And Cidira seemed to have always given the information to us straight and right. Just because they were able to do batch fixes in past with other stuff, doesn't mean that can do everything or that they are mandatory to do so.

It is also not about retagging, the chairs need to be saved in a new format. I am not an expert, and maybe there will be some kind of conversion tool, or patch from Maxis, but as things stand right now, this is the fix.

It just hit me that maybe we could divide and conquer and make a list of CC chairs in sets that don't have an active creator attached anymore, and do a couple each and then share somewhere - like a database. That way everyone doesn't have to do them manually by themselves for their entire cc folder. I can't be the only one with a lot of cc. Just a thought.

Hi all,
In the recent patch, EA made a change to chair code causing chairs to require 32-bit instance numbers instead of the 64-bit numbers they've always used. This change was, most likely, an unintended consequence of other changes made to chairs. I think this is true for two reasons: 1. this kind of change has occurred in the past and EA always reversed it in a later patch and 2. there is no benefit gained by using 32-bit instance numbers instead of 64-bit instance numbers. In fact, there is a drawback in that a smaller pool of possible instance numbers is more likely to result in instance number collisions (two objects with the same instance number).
Andrew has posted about the problem at EA forum. We're hopeful that they'll back this change out as they have when similar unintended consequences occurred in the past.
If they won't, Studio will add a batch fix to make existing chairs work again.
Having EA fix this is, obviously, the best outcome. A batch fix for this particular issue would cause all instances of batch fixed chairs to disappear from saved games. Further, as stated above, smaller IDs lead to a greater chance of content collision in the game.

NP. I would also like to encourage people to wait at least a little while for EA to fix this or for a batch fix to be made. If everyone starts making their own instance numbers for every chair they have, there are going to be hundreds of chairs out there each with hundreds of different instance numbers. This could cause problems down the road if people start sharing their chair folders with friends who are also receiving chair folders from other people. The instance number is what the game uses to tell which object is what. Things that increase the chance that a player will have more than one item with a given instance number or versions of the same item with different instance numbers in their game should be avoided. If we do a batch fix we can hash the number in a fashion that ensures a specific chair gets the same number no matter who batch fixes it.
