So, I tried to follow your guide but I ended up with a few problems. When I draw the line, I can't see it, I just see a dot where it ends and when I try to add a surface, it gives me this error imgur.com/6RB0jxD
about the rest of the guide, I already use F to create surface, ALT R for the edge loops, E to extrude, I mirror the repeating parts with Shift D and move them (though I didn't know about the flip normals, that's why the mirrored planes disappeared when I appended the brooch in the sims4studio blend.
The problem here now is another one. I unwrapped the new brooch and it is way better... but I only get the crown, the surface behind the front, the surface in the back and the center piece (without the big sphere, of course) and it won't let me use the uv map, as you can see here imgur.com/HQyuoTW ..... I am soooooo close, I know it!
the only thing I did differently this time is that I flipped normals to all the spheres (except for the big central one), the toruses around them, the front-left and back right sides (the gold contouring) and the front-right and back-left spheres of the contouring part, and the back of the crown because they were all wrong (the color of the mesh was darker grey and when I appended in the mesh from sims4studio those parts were completely missing).
now, I don't understand why the 3 rectangles with spheres of the front, all the spheres and the entire contouring part disappear in the uv mesh...
solve one, get 4 more problems....
oh, now that I noticed, if I do the smart UV project, every piece appear (but they are way too many and all apart), but if I just to "Unwrap" I get just those 5 pieces out of 28 in total, I guess they should be (or 14 like in the blend you posted).
I was so sure I wouldn't have had to ask you anything anymore and be able to finish this project..... sorry!
