When I started playing University, I wanted a desk where my sim could study on her computer and do homework at the same desk. I used a dining room table and made it look a little bit like a desk.
Sims will still treat this as a dining table if you put chairs all around it. I put mine against a wall and only put 2 chairs behind the the table, 1 for the computer and next to it where they will do their homework. Try to use all the slots with decorations as other sims might just plonk their plates on your desk. To prevent other sims to sit and eat at the desk, I grab the homework from their inventory and put it on the right hand side of the desk. If you click on the book it will give you the option to do homework or study. I have changed the tag to be under Desks and not Dining room tables. Basegame table used.
