I have just recently started trying to do recolors, and I had success with recoloring a CC bed (for personal use) and a Maxi painting, in fact it was quite simple. But when I tried to recolor a base game tee shirt I ran into difficulties. I had no trouble placing the image or recoloring the shirt itself, but there are no seams on the shirt anymore.
I understand I've done something wrong, but not what. The tutorials here are awesome, but many of them just say "create your image as desired" or something like that. I had no trouble figuring out for myself how to do that with a paining or a bed, but there's no instructions on HOW to create an image for clothing. On the bed and the painting, the only thing under texture on the texture tab was "texture". On that tab for the shirt, there is diffuse, shadow, specular, normal and emission. I don't know what any of those mean, or what to do with them to make my seams on my shirt not be covered up by the solid green. Can anyone help, or direct me to a tutorial that goes over in basic terms what all those words mean, and how to recolor a clothing piece in more detail? I would be very grateful. I attached an image of the game shirt I used for this recolor. Cropped of course.

There's other ways to do it, but how I personally do recolors like that is this: (In Photoshop) Put the original shirt on top of the recolor you made and set it's blend mode to multiply. And then sometimes I take the "normal" texture and put it on top of that and set it's blend mode to soft light.

Thank you for the help. I don't have Photoshop, so I'm going to see if I can do what you suggest with Paint.net.
