I understand the basics of recoloring, this is not a simple recolor. I couldn't be specific enough in the topic title. I am talking about editing holiday light sets that have the same color for each bulb to have different colors from one bulb to another. My experience with every kind of file of this kind is that they seem programmed to only have one color and it has left me stumped, as I know this goes far deeper than a simple recolor and I am a newbie. I've tried playing around with the texture in PhotoShop and the mesh in Blender, but nothing that I know works.
If necessary, I will reference a creation from SIMCredible, who has authorized recolors of their meshes. I have some others to recolor that don't have that same policy but I am using purely for personal use, of course. I'm hoping that any knowledge I get here will help me work with everything else.
I am using: S4S 3.1.3.0 (Wishes) Adobe PhotoShop Elements 9 Blender 2.76

Which item are you working from? Something like the Festive Wall Light Short from the holiday pack? Could you give me the exact name?
Thanks

I don't know where that is - is that from a pack or is it CC? Can you share the package?
How the package does animations etc may vary from package to package.

Okay I've googled and it looks you are referring to is CC sims4.simcredibledesigns.com/ Although they do allow recolours I don't want to have to download the set etc to see how it works.

From reading the rules, I think it is okay to share the package for this purpose, but I will remove it if not. I uploaded it here (my Google Drive).

From a brief look the lighting isn't done as a texture - it's a yellow light.
Warehouse tab, light has a yellow entry. I don't know how you'd separate each light to make them behave differently. Sorry.

sims4studio.com/thread/4803/make-new-lamp-lights-correctly has a tutorial on making lights. I wonder if you change the light to white, and then change the bulb texture so each is a different colour you'd get something like what you're looking for. However I can't work out how the textures work either - sorry no idea.

I do appreciate it, anyway! I assume it has to do with the texture because when I look at other string light objects that do have multiple colors they have each individual bulb in the texture and have each one colored to correspond with the way it comes out in the game. I actually recolored a set of lights in that way, changing the colors and they did exactly what I wanted. I'll provide texture images from one of the icicle lights that EA has added in some of the packs: The multi color texture looks like this:

I whipped up this multi-color EA Pre-Strung Tree of Lights in no time:
But there are so much CC I wish I could do the same with. I'm a bit of a holiday light fanatic and it makes me sad that so much CC is just plain white.
EDIT: Well, this is a case of not counting your chickens before they hatch. I put this recolor in my game and here's what I got:
I am curious how you recolored the lights up top?
