Welcome aboard microsteve! In no way are you out of your league! We're of all ages here, I'm in my mid 30s, and there are quite a few talented custom content creators and simmers in their 40s and 50s. Taking longer in learning how to create custom content - yes, that might be the case, but not always, and even so, it doesn't make the experience any less pleasurable or meaningful. I don't know "tons" but I'm happy to help in anything you need - I'm limited to recolouring at the moment (not meshing yet), but I'm pretty good at it, if I do say so myself, and I'm very patient. One of the most fun things I've done is teach my 80 year old father with Parkinsons how to play games on the ipad and use it for karaoke, and also have taught children of three or four with attention deficit problems to play online games too. Patience may be key but so is the joy of learning regardless of age and health situation. I'm sure you will manage beautifully but don't get dismayed and don't feel silly to ask for help. We've all been new to the scene whatever our age and learning pace. If I could be so bold, I would recommend using this tutorial to create your first custom content HERE by Orangemittens - it was the first I read and used successfully. Then if you need help following it or get stuck, post your question HERE. Of course, if you want to start meshing and not recolour for the moment, that's fine too, it's just that recolouring takes relatively few steps and has less ways to mess up, in my opinion. Go ahead and start wherever, and whenever you like, there are tons of tutorials on this site. Great to have you here! Hope you have fun exploring the forums and playing the game! )

Thanks for the welcome and encouragement.
I was afraid to mention that my disability is due to stage 2 Parkinsons among multiple other medical issues. You seem to understand where I am coming from so that is a real encouragement for me.
Recoloring is where I want to start, so again, thank you!

Hi microsteve, welcome to Studio forums...it's great to meet you. It's great to hear you're interested in learning to make things for the Sims 4 and you're in the right place to get started. We have lots of illustrated step by step tutorials and, more importantly, a friendly group of people that don't mind questions. The Sims 4 Studio project is based on the idea that making things for the game is not out of anyone's league and that learning how to make things should be a fun, positive experience. If you run into questions don't hesitate to post...all the tutorials are fully and patiently supported

microsteve I'm glad you feel welcome and safe to share your personal situation. There's no shame in having Parkinsons (or any other medical issue), of course it's possible that it may slow you down (from my experience with my father, the bouts of depression, even more than the physical setbacks, were frustrating, but every case is different) but that doesn't constitute an end to having fun. Actually I've seen several disabled people and people with mental illness (depression, personality disorders, etc) find great solace and peace in playing The Sims 4 and making custom content for it - it's heaven to express yourself creatively with no added pressure, and it's a healthy pastime to keep you motivated and interested in what you can do, rather than what you can't. Anyway, I'm happy to read in your other post that you've already started recolouring, that's great! Looking forward to see your stuff! Maybe you'd like to open a creator studio here if you want to share your creations. Have a great day/evening, wherever you are!

Hello! My name is Lucia, and I'm from Argentina. I'm 22 and studying to be an english translator. I love to learn new languages, they're like a secret code that I absolutely HAVE to understand, lol. I've played The Sims 1, 2, 3, and now 4! Most of what I use S4S for is recolouring, but now I'm giving Blender a chance. It's really nice to be part of this lovely community

Hi everyone, thought I should introduce myself seeings I have already download all your tuts, lol.
I'm Mick from the UK. Currently a forklift intructor who enjoys gaming in my spare time. I enjoy all genres from FPS, RTS, TBS, building / management games. I have played / owned all the Sims variations, Sims 3 not so much though. After a long break from the Sims 4 I decided to get back into it, just got all the packs and RECREATED my first family. I was glad to stumble on this site as I love messing with in game content, will be looking for loads of advice probably.
Other hobbies include photography, image editing / processing in photoshop and 3D modelling in maya, currently working on a long term project of a WH40K dreadnought, I say long term because it is hard to fit in amoungst all the gaming, lol.
Anyway, hope you all had a great Xmas and New Year
