I made a custom food following Leniad and Laurenbell's custom food tutorial with good results. The food shows up in game properly and sims can prepare the full version without trouble at the right level of cooking skill (in this case, gourmet skill) and even use the right ingredient. The problem comes when they have to prepare a single plate or take a slice from the bigger plate. Sims simply reset and do nothing, so they can't obviously eat it.
I double checked the hash strings to see if I placed something incorrectly but couldn't find anything out of place, so I'm at loss of what I'm overlooking.
Here's rar to my .pckg and .txt with the hashings I used. (Edit: solved, link removed )
Any pointers in the right direction are appreciated!

1 Liittzy_Food_Gourmet_MemoryLanePastry_name Hex 32 = 48FE62C8 0x48FE62C8 Hex 32 of "Memory Lane Pastry" = 0x02D79605
numbers don't match if you used 0x48FE62C8 in some places and 0x02D79605 in others.
A hint: For name/string values it doesn't really matter about the length of the id (7 non 0 numbers) but when you use for other ids, if it starts with a 0 it may make the decimal value too short to recognize.
2 I never used either of those tunings, but the multi tuning may not match with the single (it may need states that aren't in single recipe or you multi mesh
I use object_Food_BowlFork_Multi_Cake
object_Food_CakeWhite and don't have issues
If you want to eat without plate, these would be my choice object_Food_Cupcake_Multi object_Food_Cupcake_TheBaconing
Thank you for the reply! I tried what you suggested (used matching tunings, in this case the the single and multi Apple Pies tunings), redid everything from scratch and it works now! Now my sims can eat my food, thank you I don't know why the tunings used before don't match, since those are the ones used in you Cream Spinach Pie (I used that recipe as a guide). Perhaps I simply made a mistake along the way and that's it.
Here's a little issue that arised though: on my single plate I use a custom plate with my food, and that plate uses a different texture. While I was playing, I noticed the custom texture of my plate showed up on the plates of other game default foods, but only on some. My guess is that the textures in those recipes are linked somehow and my texture is overwriting it for some reason. The lazy solution would be to put back the default plate texture in my file... but I really want my food to have the texture meant for it.
Is there a way to unlink the plates' textures? I've seen other custom foods have their own custom plates w/o issue but I'm not sure how to achieve that myself.
Another thing I wanted to ask about where the recipe tunnings. In the food tutorials, it was suggested to take a look into the recipes used of other custom foods to guide ourselves into how to craft our own. No matter how many different cc foods I opened with s4s, none of the snippets or recipes where there in the warehouse tab, but I know they have to be in the file cause otherwise they wouldn't work with the game. Is there something I have to configure for those to appear? I was opening them with the "selective clone" option. I ended up using the EA recipes, extracted from the Tunning tab to make mine.
The custom plate is just a second texture on the single, you need to create (or use) a separate id for just the plate to add to the geometry of the mesh on empty (took me forever to figure that one out). Usually I use one of the ids that either EA has for experimental food, but sometimes make my own. My guess is that you created an override for your single, instead of a clone - that is what is changing all the plates. Basically if you want different shaped plates, you will have to use that shape as your clone base and not the standard plate. My food all have snippets in the warehouse tab, other folks - no. Below image was for some other explanation, but the snippet appears in the image (just so you know what it should look like, you may need to drag/adjust column widths to see)
The snippet itself is only a few lines of XML. Once selected, the xml tab appears showing the code. I just export snippets from one item, import where I want them, and then open and edit the xml
Ok, I'll experiment making the custom empty plate and using it as the base for my custom food I think I can already mark this thread as solved since the food already works though! Thanks again!
As for the snippets and recipes in custom content made by you and others:
They really don't appear when I open them in studio :( in the picture I'm at the the bottom of the warehouse files. Thankfully the tutorials were clear enough for me to make the snippet from scratch without issue, but it remains a mystery to me why those don't show up in the warehouse when I open any CC that's supposed to have them. I even tried cloning the food I made with the snippet in it, and studio still hid away the snippet, recipes and sim data I know for sure it has inside. The issue is not enough to stop me from making more CC in the future, but I just find it an odd detail in my experience worth bringing up.
I finally realized why I couldn't see the tunnings, so I'm writing the solution here in case this is useful to someone else:
Instead of opening custom CC with the "cloning" options in the object section of s4s, the CC has to be opened with the "My projects" button, on the right side of the main screen in studio. This way, one can open any CC and see their resources with their custom tunnings intact.
Up to this point I had never realized that "My Projects" was a button too, whoops. The more you know!
As a side note, I managed to add the necessary object tunning to my single plate. It now has it's own empty plate with custom texture and works great
