I downloaded a "top" Blender file from Sims 4 Studio, but I realized I need it to be a whole body outfit (a one-piece).
How to I change my file into that? Or can I just use the Blender file I currently have and import it somehow into CAS in the Sims 4 Studio? I always thought you had to download an existing Blender file that Sims made and edit it, then re-import it. But maybe there's a way to import your own from scratch? I see you can choose the labels it has, so I could just choose, in the Categories tab in the Subpart section, the checkbox for "costume". But how do I import it?

I'm not sure that I understood what you're asking. You can make a new mesh and convert it to game. But for that you need to export from the Sims 4 Studio a game mesh compatible. For example: for a dress you must export a game dress at barely the same size as your mesh. Or you can use the lingerie full body.
For a mesh work as whole body outfit we need to import your mesh to a full body game outfit. I normally use the lingerie for that.

Thanks KM, that's what I'm trying to do, you're correct. But what did you mean "For example: for a dress you must export a game dress at barely the same size as your mesh." Does the item I want to export have to match closely the new item (the one I will create)? Because that won't be the case. I will share photos of the differences. I found an item in the "clothing body" outfit type, which is what a one-piece will be. But this will change a lot when I am done with it. Instead of an undershirt, I appended some other sims clothing to my original blender file, like a brassiere, part of a skirt, some tights, and some shorts. I modified the sweater to be more like a jacket and added a collar. All this will become one blender file, but will this work to use the sweater base file I exported, then change and append all my stuff, then can I reimport this file back into Sims 4 Studio? It's awesome.. but I think you must know first how ts4 meshes work. If you are creating and adding new objects to your mesh, you will need to make the weight paint and everything. I'm supposing you know that. What you must have in mind to import your mesh for this Base file at the end, is that it must have the same number of "cut". But as I see, you can use this game outfit to import your mesh, but you must do all data transfer and weight paint stuff before that, as a new mesh, if you don't make it the outfit will not work.

I've learned to make my meshes with this video. You can skip the marvelous part and just watch from the moment she imports the mesh into Blender.

Thanks so much KM, by weight paint, do you mean the UV map? I know after I build the mesh I have to make a map, which I haven't begun learning how to do yet. Thanks for the video, I was looking for something for the next step! It took me months (was a beginner) just to be able to get the mesh almost done. It seems like I'll have to make a UV map from scratch though, so will have to figure out how. But good to know I can import my own mesh using the existing Sims outfit I found. Thanks!
