Recently, I attempted to un-merge one of my packages, but when I did, a message popped up that stated,"the package that you have selected is either not a merged package or it was not merged with a version of studio that supports un-merging." I know for a fact that this is a merged package, so I need a little help. Does anyone know a way I can un-merge this package, whether it be with S4S or another program? Thank you!

First off, how did you merge it in the first place? All packages that are merged by S4Studio create a merged file manifest resource inside the package so that it knows what contents it contains and what goes with what if you tell it to unmerge it. If you manually exported and imported files into a single package then I don't think there is an automatic way to unmerge them again. It is always recommended to keep unmerged backups of your files for just such an occassion.

We can't say about other programs, but if the file was not merged with Studio then you can't unmerge it with S4S. When the files are merged with Studio it creates a S4Smanifest resource file. If there is no such resource on the Warehouse tab then you can't unmerge the file with Studio.

I've come across the same problem, the file was not merged by me but downloaded. I know it's merged because I can see the contents one by one using S4S but it gives the same message when I try to unpack. What other program can I try to do it with pls? I have no idea how else to merge/unmerge files.
