I'm not convinced I really want to learn even to move an existing mesh around in Blender, but I'm curious all the same...
I know we've had useable wall-mounted microwaves (to go beneath counters like they do in real houses, mainly). I also know they're broken now, just like many other objects that it used to be possible to use after raising or lowering them with 9 and 0. I know beds (i.e. separated mattresses) are another thing that is broken if you raise them, and when that happened people had to make custom top bunk mattresses that were fixed at the desired height, instead of shiftable.
Question is, would the same thing that works for mattresses work for microwaves? Could you alter the mesh so that the microwave just sits in the correct spot and only that spot, no raising or lowering, and have it then be useable? One of the otherwise-broken wall microwaves was useable if I didn't raise it at all and just left it where it naturally placed when I moved it to the wall (which was all the way on the floor, heh), which would tend to suggest you could.
I'm sure the animations would be borked in some way regardless, not sure if the Sim would interact with a phantom microwave or float off the floor, but it'd still be nice to have a working option.

I'm actually working on something for wall microwaves that puts microwaves with modified tuning on invisible shelves. These work fine above a one squared counter or object (such as a fridge) and any open walls. While making the screenshots for release I realized Sims aren't able to use it like shown in the picture. They also can't use it if there is a bar stool at the counter. Hopefully I can figure it out, but if not, I suppose I'll just release it "as is". The original animations were made for the counter's height and don't adapt to the height of the microwave. There's nothing that can be done about them (to my knowledge). The original wall microwave mod has this issue as well. Coming soon™ To answer your question, yes it it is possible to offset the 3d model and have it set in S4S with "Edge against wall". You also need to modify its tuning so it can be placed on the floor. (Which is what I had to do to get it to work in a slot) Plus, it's very limiting to have it placed in that one spot.

Oh, neat. Hope to see the results of your work sometime soon. That all about makes sense with things I already knew or had guessed (and I considered mentioning the possibility of invisible shelves with counter slots or something like that). I personally wouldn't mind if it didn't work when it was partially blocked like that, since I'm mainly just looking for under cabinet mounting.
That thing on the left, is that your invisible shelf? It looks like a whole big set of shelves where the heights are marked but the shelf is invisible all the time and then the markers become invisible too when you change the color? THAT'S AWESOME.
