Okay, so, I used to mess with Sims 4 stuff a while back, but coming back to it now I've essentially forgot everything.
My aim at the moment is to take a robotic arm I grabbed from another non-Sims model, rig it to the arm, wrist, hand and finger weights/vertex groups and have it not be part of a top, all the while making it occupy a wrist slot. Only thing I'm slightly confused about is, really, how to go about doing it?
Do I export a top, copy the weights there and then when I import it back into the studio I just tell it to occupy a different slot? Or do I have to manually weight paint it and tell it to use certain vertex groups? Any help is appreciated.

Alright so double post but I dived in and managed to get it weight painted just by manually adding paints to the vertex groups. Now my issue is trying to get the arm underneath to disappear. I deleted part of the left arm underneath my robot arm in blender, but on importing the mesh into the studio the arm is back. Now I'm pretty lost. I know there is a way to do it since I've seen other mods that do the same, but I'm not sure how to replicate it. Is it something to do with cut numbers? Again, help is appreciated.

It is impossible to make the arm disappear. It has to be a part of the top if you want to edit the hand. There is no way around it.

I guess the easiest way to make it work is to make the robot arm mesh kind of swallow the arm and hand base mesh completely?
