Hi, so I'm making a mesh from two hairs from base game. The hair is up to my standard apart from the bit where the ponytail is a bit to straight for me, and I would like to make it curlier (or wavier). I can't seem to find where I can do that, all other tutorial are about hairs that have been made from scratch. Can anyone help?

Hi. Maxis hairstyles are sculpted first, then retopologized with consideration for the shape of the mesh. After that the texture is painted and baked. You can make something look curlier/wavier through the texture, but editing the shape of the existing straight ponytail is pointless. Not only is it triangulated but also has the wrong topology. If you try to subdivide it to sculpt, it'd be a mess. If you quandrangulate it first then subdivide, it'd be better but you will still have to retopologize it. So it's either retexturing, replacing the ponytail with another one from a different mesh, or making one from scratch the way maxis does.

Thank you for reply. The hair is my very first hair that I have done, so I think some things you had said is not on my level just yet, so I will choose a curly ponytail. Thank you!
