Hello to all the brilliant minds at S4S!
Firstly, I apologise for putting this here when I know it belongs in the dedicated wishlist/suggestions forum (unfortunately my post count isn't yet high enough to post there, so Mods feel free to close/move/etc. this thread as necessary).
I wanted to express interest in a version of S4S for Windows that would support dark mode, i.e. black windows with white text. IIRC, the Mac version works with Mac's built-in day/night mode, but I can't seem to get the PC version to sync up to my settings like that; it's always white with black text. Would something like this be possible? I know there are a number of Simmers who use dark mode for accessibility reasons (personally, light mode gives me migraines), so this feature in S4S would be fantastic.
Thanks so much for all you do for this community! xx

xoxdahlia I don't know if developers have time for this. I can only suggest what I am using when I work in Studio late in the evening or at night. There is a program f.lux that adjusts the color of your screen from bluish to warm yellowish. It has a lot of settings and one great thing about is that it changes the temperature of the screen (the color) from cold to warm gradually, so you won't even notice it. You can turn it off when you check the swatches. This helps a lot.

She has severe light sensitivity and it's not about confort, she just can't use S4S because the black over white is unreadable for her. She tried her windows theme black mode as she uses one daily, but then the text is black over black. I suggested to her to post about this here and she reckoned herself that developers wouldn't have time for it either, especially with the windows batch fix still not out. But it's not something that can be twitched with settings unfortunately...

If this program helps me it can help another people who are sensitive to the bright light or bright contrast.

This is what S4S looks like on my screen. I can't read the black text on dark gray background.

I tried Flux, but it didn't help. Doesn't matter the hue, white is not an option for me. I wear Gunnar glasses with BLPF 65 amber lens, but I can't look at anything white for more than a few seconds. The problem with S4S is that it's not fully adaptive. I use a custom dark Windows theme that works with every other app I have installed, except S4S. I understand that nobody cares and it's not a priority, but if you could put it on the wish list... maybe?

I posted your request for you there, I understand how vision problems can mess with your ability to use some computer programs

I don't know which kinds of forum styles S4S has access to or if you have to do it all from scratch, but there could be some dark presets with white writing that could be added if you're running on a forum base with preset bases of some kind. I had a couple preset options on my site (my default used to be white on black because I found it a bit more comfortable to read, but it was ruined by a host change, so much for free hosting ), and Modthesims has a variant (edit profile --> scroll down to the end, dropdown box that says "style" - "slate" is an example of a white-on-black for those who need that, and as a tip for your friend if she didn't know already). It's possible, but the difficulty level depends on what kind of base the forum runs on and how easy/difficult it is to edit the forum style on a particular site. Some forums come with presets where you can change a few things to fit and have a fully working option. Others you may have to build them more or less from scratch. Could be it's just the matter of adding one that just changes text colors and colors in the various boxes (probably doesn't have to be perfect, just readable for those who want the option).
--------- Other light "hacks" that may or may not be helpful:
If you have Windows 10 there's a blue-to-orange light change built into the settings (probably same use as the app mentioned above). Mostly for the reluctant morning birds (night-owls?) out there (it's not really for light sensitivity, but for counteracing lower melatonin production caused by blue light from using electronic screens before bed - Your brain thinks the blue light is daylight and slows down melatonin production, making you more awake instead of sleepy. Orange light doesn't set off the same daylight censors in your brain, so to speak. Going from blue to orange light before bedtime is good, but screens off at least half an hour to an hour or more before bed is even better - but like that's going to happen, right? ).
You can also turn screen light down so it's less intrusive, but that mostly helps for those who can read black-on-white on screens but are mildly to moderately light-sensitive.
(For whatever reason, the settings are often not low enough - mine are usually set to 2 or 3 of 100, but fully up feels like getting the sun directly in my face. Who even goes that high and why aren't there lower default settings? Would be nice with lower settings for light sensitivity or even for playing with lights off, because then even 2 or 3 is too bright... It's moddable, but the default settings are quite bad)

This is something I too am interested in, though it just a personal preference of mine. Feyona, I am a developer and would love to help out here if possible. I'm not sure what the limitation and/or reason(s) this option is not currently available however I am willing to take a crack at implementing it, if possible.
