Hey y'all -- quick question here! I've been working on a custom alien "costume" (a full body costume like the mascot costumes). It works perfectly in game; the default sim is hidden and it animates to my satisfaction. However, the default sim's head and feet still show up in Sims 4 Studio. This would be fine, except I'm currently working on texturing my alien, and it's a pain because I can't see what the texture looks like on the alien, with the darn default Sims head and feet in the way! Is there any way to hide the rig in S4S?

Hi. You can find a maxis item which hides these body parts and copy its ExcludePartflag (maybe even the second line) or you can do the math.....

Hi Mauve -- I've already done that! The body parts are excluded correctly in game, just not in S4S for some reason.

If it works in the game then there is nothing to fix. Sims 4 Studio is not the game and does not show meshes the same way. Check your textures in Blender instead.

Ahh, that's such a pain! Good to know that it's not an error on my part and is just S4S being dumb. It's significantly easier to check the textures as I'm working on them via S4S than in Blender, but I'll make it work. Thanks for the answer!

The updating process is the same in Blender or S4S. S4S is not "being dumb", it is not it's task. It is a packaging software that allows you to duplicate, edit and preview some aspects of game files. It is not made to recreate the environment of The Sims 4, a game with unique rendering engine, lightening, shaders, tuning, etc.
