I can't quite explain so I'll let this image show the issue: How do I fix this?

You probably need to remake the UV map so that the texture is applied evenly.

In Blender in Object mode switch to Material tab and delete all of them with - button. Then click +, then New to create a new material. Switch to Texture tab, click New, then Open, import your texture in the scene. Switch shading to Texture. Edit the uvs
You should watch a proper frankenmeshing tutorial because you will not get far by resolving one issue per week on the same item

The UV map isn't proportional to the mesh. See how the corresponding faces on the UV map are far more squished than they are on the mesh? You'll likely need to remap it.

I have looked through quite a few tutorials but none of them have been detailed and thorough enough. I think I need a bit more than a basic overview. I'd like to thank you for taking time out of your day to help me and explain things to me, I'm very grateful. I understand that you might feel frustrated answering my questions but I don't think that last part of your answer was quite fair. I only turned to this site because I couldn't find answers anywhere else. Perhaps I missed the solution on my search but I thought it would be better to ask for help directly from people who know what they're doing than to aimlessly search the internet. I'm sure you mean well though.

In this section of the forum we do not teach the basics of computer graphics, Blender software or CC making. Here we guide people in finding the solution to the issues they encountered in the process of cc making, meaning we expect you to already know the basics and be able to understand our responses. If you do not understand some general concepts like uv mapping or how to edit uvs in Blender, please just search an introductory video on uv maping in Blender. We get dozen(s) of threads everyday in this section of the forum, often from people who didn't even try looking for tutorials and think all of this is straight-forward, we cannot hold everyone's hand through this or teach everything there is to know in one reply. I do feel sorry that the available ts4 tutorials are lacking and cannot link you to "the right one" that would answer all your questions, but if you cannot find the answer in TS4 category, the next logical step would be to go beyond that. They did not change UV editor much, so you can watch that video I linked in a different thread or any other that uses newer versions of Blender. Or you can watch this one for older versions. Here he quickly shows how to mark seams, unwrap, move uvs
Here he goes more into details
