Three Families
This is the longest running game I have ever played in the Sims 4, (sixteen months) in case I lose it here are some key moments in what has been the best game so far.
It started with three families, all from the maxis stable, Liberty and Travis, Steve & Summer and Claudia and Johnny, and has grown into a community that is thriving and has a lot of fun.
Liberty and Travis come across as a bit boring at first, but once you take away that goofy walk and horrible clothes and they proved every bit as interesting as the others. I always let my sims lead the way and when they want to get engaged or marry. It's my job to give them a good memorable venue and experience. These two played their parts perfectly. Liberty is the scientist with an artistic streak that runs wild at home.
Travis is a nerd, but indulges his partners style with good grace. And he is romantic, a trip to the jungle and a stop by the giant waterfalls gave him the perfect place to propose to Liberty.
Summer spent a lot of time alone after her friends got together and she moved out. She travelled and lived a few places, the desert, The Crumbling Isle and a place by the docks in Windenburg. She discovered that her travels had allowed her gift for writing to expand and enrich her stories so she settled into a authors routine. She slept late, called friends and then wrote until it was time to go and find a place for dinner. And it was in a restaurant that she met Steve and her life changed forever. 
Steve had been drifting around honing skills and meeting friends. He always had an interest in science. He worked at the lab for a while which is where he met Liberty and then Travis. but making a gun to change peoples clothes wasn’t his idea of real science (causing some interesting discussions with Liberty) so he left to pursue other interests. And then while in a restaurant waiting for his order to arrive, Summer walked in and he knew he had found a lifelong interest that would always be exciting. 
After a few weeks of dating Steve and Summer were on the point of moving in together, the only problem for Steve was that Summer had more money than him. And then he won the lottery, he really did! (Never happened to any of my sims before I was more shocked than him.) So suddenly there was no problem, they picked a house on the water and moved in. Summer adopted a toucan they named Raleigh who became part of the family overnight. And so began a long and very happy relationship with more surprises to come.
Meanwhile, back in the desert, there was a guy called Johnny Zest who wanted to be famous. His hard work paid off and soon he couldn’t go anywhere without being mobbed, but it was a lonely life at the top. 
Claudia also wanted to be a famous actress, she was doing well but wanted to be more...well interesting (like her real life lookalike).
So she took a trip to the jungle to search for inspiration. Then while practising her guitar skills on the third night she hit on a brilliant idea for the following day.
First a change of clothes to make sure she stood out. Then, timing it perfectly for maximum exposure, she climbed to the top of a cliff and with the fantastic scenery as a backdrop she activated her drone to stream and sang live from the jungle. Her All The Colours Of The World stream caught the worlds imagination and she became an internet sensation.
 
Famous at last. But to echo Johnny, it's lonely at the top.
By now Steve and Travis were best friends as were Summer and Liberty and often met up with both Johnny and Claudia for drinks or a meal, so it was easy for Summer & Liberty to introduce Johnny to Claudia and sit back and watch. Long after the others had gone home to bed Johnny and Claudia talked into the night sharing experiences and the thrill of finding someone who understood this nonsense, for nonsense it all is. (To quote Julia Roberts in Notting Hill.)
Two weeks later Johnny proposed on a moonlit beach with phosphorus waves.
The stage was set for a celebrity wedding. They did well with the privacy this is the only surviving picture of the wedding.
All set for happy ever after Johnny & Claudia basked in their fame and the privileges that come with it.

Their lives moved on and all become successful and wealthy, and having it all always seems to come with the feeling something is missing, the 'talk about having kids' was being discussed at dinner and in hot tubs. Of course some skipped the talk and dived right in.
The first child to be born was Daisy, to Claudia and Johnny. There was nothing that little girl didn’t have, including a brother, Robert, that came soon after.
Liberty and Travis announced the birth of their daughter Kayko, and all eyes turned to Steve and Summer. The couple thought they could nail this after watching their friends. And soon introduced their daughter Sydney to the world. On their second try they had the shock of their lives, twins! Two beautiful daughters Goldberry and Lily.
The paradise islands were full of the sound of six smart,inquisitive and energetic kids.
They all grew up together and were constantly in each others homes to play and for dinners the parents gave. Five girls and one boy, but inseparable.
Time waits for no-one, even sims, before long the kids were young adults and out on their own. Still the best of friends and meeting, like their parents, for regular meals to keep in touch.

The families above were not the only ones living on the islands, they all had friends that they spent time with and worked with. One was responsible for the islands' pristine health. Her name was Tia.
Tia lived on Mua-Pelam, the tiny island of sand that faces the waterfall.
She was shy at first but gradually she was drawn into the three families circle. They could be imposing, seen from the outside they appear to be a clique. Being a marine biologist meant she could indulge her passion for ocean conservation and breed endangered fish. She led a quiet life , keeping fit, painting, and of course playing in the sand occasionally. She travelled and learnt to make videos and how to edit them so she could share the island and her work with others. She never gave a lot of thought to finding someone like herself.
And there's also Cassandra Goth. Cassie lived in Willow Creek, in a tiny house (long before it was fashionable) with an excessive pink vibe.
She soon tired of the rain and when a place became empty in Sulani she collected all her best art, sold the rest and moved to the sunshine isle. Like the iguana, Leonard, that lives with her she loves the sun and spends a great deal of time outdoors. Her favourite pastime is camping on the tiny sand islands with a few things to keep occupied, an easel, yoga mat, and a BBQ. She is currently trying to collect all the shells for an art project but the Sand Bar always seems to get the way.

The kids, of the big three families, turned out to be a lot more fun than their parents.
Daisy and Robert grew up well considering the attention their parents put up with. Neither showed any interest in following in their famous footsteps.
Daisy tried few a careers before realising she didn’t need to work. She settled on a spiritual life of yoga and meditation and takes a great interest in archaeology and the islands traditions.
Robert is kind and considerate, he enjoyed learning and as a result has his pick of careers. He found that his friendship with Goldberry had become something more and was more than happy to make plans to settle and start his own family.
Goldberry is a lot like her mother. She is very family orientated and was the first girl to develop a serious relationship. She loves to spend time in the kitchen making new recipes and she writes in her spare time. Her engagement announcement to Robert was welcomed by both families and their friends.
Sydney is a bit of mystery, on the surface she is shy and reserved and is more comfortable in the company of friends and family than strangers. She has never been to a bar on her own. It took her a very long time to find love and when she did it came from a totally unexpected source. Alexander Goth lived next door to his sister, Sydney met him after visiting Cassandra. Both quiet and careful people found a comfortable fit with each other and slowly their relationship blossomed and so did they.
Kayko became a scientist like her mother, but unlike her she has stayed with it. She used her high income to buy a beautiful house surrounded with rare plants, an interest of hers she tries to indulge at work between freezing her work colleagues and changing their clothes. But again wealth doesn’t buy happiness. And soon no amount of spar trips or exotic holidays could fill the void. Add in the bloody alien work colleague that thinks its funny to get her abducted after work and you have a rich women with a problem.
 
Lily - Lily is as mad as box of frogs. Compared to all the other sims she is by far the most fun to play. Despite her huge bank balance her first job was a bartender, which she totally nailed in super-fast time. She then moved on to work as a Spy but it was so boring she dumped it and became a fisherman. But the early mornings sucked so she left that and decided to travel. She visited every part of the sims world, often camping where she shouldn’t. She is fearless and fun. She was last seen in the company of Don Lothario in a bikini and holding a drink.

Remember Tia? The pretty girl who lived alone on an island, saving the leopard sharks one at the time? Well one day while working by the waterfall, she turned around and found Danny waiting to do the same thing. Six foot four, fit, blonde and a conservationist. 
The rest was, moonlit walks in bioluminescent wavelets and BBQs on the beach. Watching baby turtles make it to the water, scuba diving together and Danny moving in with Tia. They set up a whole floor with tanks for the endangered fish and even wrote articles that were published.
Thorin was a surprise but a very welcome one. Bringing a little one up on a beach is great, so much for them to do. Check out Danny’s tired eyes on Thorin's' birthday.
After Thorin; Scarlett arrived so a move to a bigger place was needed. The children grew up with a love of the ocean respectful of nature and surrounded by loving family and good friends.
Goldberry and Robert were also moving things along. A wedding that cemented two founding families was followed by the birth of twin boys, Pip and Tom.

Goldberry for all her natural parenting skills still welcomed help from the grandparents with the boys.

Alex and Sydney had combined their resources and brought a huge piece of land on Mua-Pelam, Their life was idyllic. They worked when they felt like and threw parties to keep in touch with family and friends. One party resulted in Daisy and (a new) Steve getting together, the families were growing and by finding each other these two had found their strengths and a new sense of fun.
     
Alex's proposal was romantic but the wedding was the best and most successful in the sim world, the entire family was invited.
The ceremony was planned for sunset so the setting sun would light up the flowers behind the couple.
 
After the vows the fireworks were lit by both the couple and the guests, announcing to the whole island they were now married.
Everyone ate drank and was merry, there were jokes and dancing and long amusing stories, It was a perfect day.

just wanted to say that every house and Sim are very beautiful even the bedroom's decoration is so lovely! I think it's funny on how attached we get with our Sim families at least i feel like that and with your story and pictures seems like you feel like that too. |

Thank you each house starts with very little and it develops with whoever lives there. And yes I am fond of them and protective. I am not a fan of EAs open house policy so these families have grown surrounded by very few outsiders. They always choose if they marry, no whim means no marriage. I have more pictures but I'm still sorting out the order to post them. |

Thank you each house starts with very little and it develops with whoever lives there. And yes I am fond of them and protective. I am not a fan of EAs open house policy so these families have grown surrounded by very few outsiders. They always choose if they marry, no whim means no marriage. I have more pictures but I'm still sorting out the order to post them. Yes post more please! I am so curious to see the other pictures now that you mentioned it! |

Kayko, meanwhile was feeling a bit lonely. All her friends seemed to be moving on which left less time for old friends. She took to visiting the Sand Bar, where she could chat to the locals and unwind. She wasn’t overly impressed when one evening (yet another) guy attempted to strike up a conversation. To encourage him to move on she told the joke that usually guaranteed a speedy exit. “So Schrödinger gets pulled over by the cops and they want to search the car. In the trunk there's a box, the cop ask what’s in it, Schrödinger says “ A cat.” Cop opens the box, looks inside, and says “This cat is dead”. Schrödinger replies, “Well it is now”. Instead of staring at her and walking away the guy cracked up laughing! Which made her laugh and before the night was over they considered themselves friends.
Deacon is an artist with a wicked sense of humour and likes to travel. After a few weeks of dating they spent a long weekend at a forest retreat. Kayko remembered how to relax, laugh and be happy. And both of them found love.     So Kayko and Deacon moved into Kayko's bigger beach side property and taught each other new things. Deacon learnt to play computer games and bake blueberry muffins and croissants for breakfast, and to scuba dive and keep the beaches clean. Kayko learnt to appreciate art and to paint, and to relax in paddling pools instead of trolling the forums. And very soon little Mirabelle arrived. Dad stayed home and played mum as its easier for an artist than a scientist to do that. A while later Terry arrived and their family was complete.

Daisy meanwhile had searched every ruined temple and got involved in all the traditions of the Island and frankly was looking for some excitement. When Sydney threw one of her day long parties she accepted with enthusiasm and was rewarded by meeting Steve. Steve was daydreaming about daisy in heart shaped thoughts just 3 hours after meeting her, they talked for most of the afternoon and it was obvious something had clicked between them. Both of them had a lot of money but no life, so finding and falling for each other solved all those problems (and surprised me).
They are the most romantic couple, candle lit dinners, moonlight hot tub with wine and jazz on the stereo, lots of hugging and kissing. Their wedding was elegant and romantic and followed by baby Adorabelle. Her name says it all, and they do adore her as the pictures show.
 
Adorabelle was and still is curious about the whole world, maybe a career in the Lab is on the cards.

While the kids grew up their parents grew older.
Claudia and Johnny had a wonderful life, rich and famous they drifted through life in a cloud of make believe. Despite the attention they protected their children and brought them up to know that fame is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. As they aged they made each other a promise, that when they knew they were too old to continue living in a fish bowl they would step away before it looked silly.
Johnny’s' birthday (to elder) was marked with a huge party, all the local stars attended with family and friends. The food was all experimental dishes and Claudia was careful not to outshine her husband on this important night.
 
Claudia's' birthday also saw a big party but this night she shone in gold sequins and blew the candles out when no one was looking.
Kayko chose a sunny afternoon garden party with flowers as the theme.
Summer did something unexpected, she invited the other two couples to the beach to mark the day and then celebrated with everyone going for a midnight swim.
Steve and Travis did Steak and Scotch at an expensive restaurant.
 
And although they all aged, they never really fully 'grew up'.

Lily has developed a new interest, raising money for charities, she can't give as much as she'd like so she had a fundraiser over in the movie studio museum. She got lots of donations but she still didn’t think it was enough, so it's off to the jungle to find treasure she can auction to ensure the donations make a real difference.
But being Lily she 'does different'. A chopper dropped her van at the Royal Baths so she has all the comfort she needs.
After a steak lunch she set off in search of gold plates and frogs.
Although she is serious about the trip this is a beautiful place so she takes time to really look and enjoy it.
 
After the loot is safely stashed in the van she heads down to the bar for some cultural acclimatisation.
All danced out she returns to the van for some well earned sleep.
Watching the moon set and the sun rise before going home.
Once home she sent the gold and valuables to an auctioneer and when all the goods were sold and the money sent to those who needed it she celebrated with a party.

Everyone’s gone home and Lily is finally ready to sleep until noon tomorrow.

Alex and Sydney have had a son they called Harry. This was one busy child as he gradually met all his family and their friends. He is now a teen and and has an interesting life, his aunt Lily is always fun to be around, two of his childhood friends have grown up and became famous, a bit of glamour to impress the girls. And living where he does he sees all sorts of things that should belong to myth and legend.
    
Pip and Tom have grown into young adults and have very different lives. Pip lives in the desert and is a computer wizard. He is still working out his place in the world. Tom had other ideas. Inspired by his famous grandparents he become an actor and very soon achieved the same sort of success they had.
Thorin and Scarlett have also gown up and have also taken different paths. But more about that later. Doesn’t Thorin look like his mum?
 
Mirabelle has moved to a place near the beach in Sulani and hangs out with Cassandra Goth a lot, she is still very young and having a lot of fun discovering the adult world. Terry has just brought a place in the desert and is searching for the right career path.
  
Adorabelle is a teen and living at home with Daisy and Steve.

As these kids grew and embraced their new lives their grandparents reached the end of theirs. They all had full lives with lots of travel and discovery and a lot of fun.
There are two that will stay with me awhile. When Steve knew he had very little time left, he and Summer spent the day doing exactly what they wanted. The last few hours were spent stargazing together just as they did when young.
The most bitter sweet was Tia and Danny. After all the time they spent together they had not ever wanted to get engaged or married. But the last night of Danny life, while shell hunting on a sandbank they both had whims to get engaged. Danny proposed as the sun slipped away and Tia said yes.
On return to the house a wedding arch was set on the deck and with only Blue the parrot as a witness, in the light of a full moon, they finally took their vows.
  
Hot tub honeymoon completed the evening. Danny passed away the next day and Tia never really recovered.
She spent a lot of time at his graveside, that’s where Thorin found her a few days later when she too had reached the end of her life.
Claudia and Johnny reached a point when the Promise had to be fulfilled and so they retired from public life.
Johnny died first leaving Claudia alone and miserable.
She moved in with Daisy and Steve and took to drinking most of the day until her own death.
Liberty and Travis had moved to allow the kids to move into their beach house. They spent a lot of time with their old friends and when Travis died Liberty was invited to move in with Kayko. She lived to a grand old age (over 3,590 days) and passed away peacefully in her sleep.
