I am not sure if this is even possible but it would be amazing if a mod could be made to make clothes (and other items from CAS) cost money so that your sims have to go to the shops to buy them.
I would love for almost all of the retail system be overhauled or modded but this is definitely near the top. Other wishes would be, customers go to a till to pay, manage shops from home (like restaurants) ...
If this is impossible please let me know so I can let my dream die with a little dignity.

Not sure about the others, but clothes costing money and being locked/requiring purchase has been a dream of mine as well since I played TS2 and discovered that feature. I have some theories on getting it to work, but it of course would be a massive project since all clothes would have to be overriden. Don't have time to do it now though.

I have just thought that the system introduced with nifty knitting where clothing items are locked could maybe be manipulated. I really wish I knew how to mod. I really want to learn, but this type of thing I doubt is a beginners project :'(

The locking system introduced with knitting is what I am planning to use (that's what I meant by overrides), it's getting the existing retail system to work with it that I'm unsure about. Mannequins are just unmoving sims, so they are very hard to work with from what I've seen others mention, and from what I glanced at before because I was curious, the current outfit system works a bit differently than expected. And nope, definitely not a beginners project. xD But as I said it's on my list, I'm just swamped already as is and I can't promise a date anytime soon. I've got a sewing skill, swordfighting skill, functional archery range, a functional harp commission, and several other things to get done first.

Those all sound amazing! I really wish I could help but I've never modded anything in my life. If only there were a course somewhere to teach you, I'd love to learn. Anyway that MizoreYukii your a star!!

What the absolute F is wrong with the developers at EA so sims 2 (2004) had it so you could go to a store click on a rack of clothes select the items you want, put them in a basket when your done selecting for all ages and genders no just the sims your controlling, you went to the till and paid, if you didn't buy the clothes guess what you couldn't f#ing wear them. fast forward sims 4 (2012) and still going with contestant updates yet not one where you can buy clothes properly. just this stupid f#ing Thrift Store poo where you can only buy what on the manikin. it seems to me that EA has gotten very lazy i mean not any animation for going to the wardrobe and opening doors to change clothes just when your in the same room auto goes to CAS.
