I was sure I was doing something wrong for a long time, but eventually I tested the file in whatever way I could think of and I'm pretty sure it's a bug. I can't post in the bug report thread so I'm hoping this is the right place to do so otherwise.
I am trying to override the files for photos sims can take. Specifically - the ones you put on the walls and not on surfaces. It is kind of important. Whatever I did, there were issues with them in the game. Eventually I created an override, changed nothing in the file and tested it in the game to see if any of the changes I made made a difference in the issues I was facing. Turns out, they didn't.
On a side note - it doesn't matter if I create an override, selective clone or a recolor, some data is always wrong.
Placing an override in the game that should act exactly the same as the original file was causing these problems:
- The photo could no longer be placed on surfaces. Normally, you drag it from the inventory and can place it on a wall or a table. Now you can place it on a wall, but it is not acknowledging in any way that it should be possible to place it on a surface. No error messages, nothing.
- The Moschino stuff pack frame colors are missing. The options are still visible in the menu where you choose a frame, but the game applies one of the base game colors instead.
- Medium sized photos can't be placed in the Moschino Stuff's Collage Photo Frame. There is however no problem with small ones.
- The option to rotate the image (i.e. in a horizontal frame - keep the frame horizontal but have the picture be rotated 90 degrees and stretched to fit) doesn't work.
Now, I probably would still be thinking that it's a problem on my end or that a non-standard object like this just cannot be edited with S4S, BUT I also tested the other object - the frame that is supposed to be placed on surfaces and it caused no issues. I did the same thing with it - created an override and added to my mods without making any changes. Comparing files for both frames in S4S clearly shows that there is some kind of problem with the import for one of them - I included some photos (but there's more the further I dig): 1, 2, 3.
Now, I could manually update some of those for my files - the textures, tuning, slot type set for collage frame, geometry states, I think? But those are minor inconviniences compared to not being able to place the pictures on surfaces and I don't know where this one is coming from.
Help, please?
