Hi everyone! Not sure if this is the correct spot to post questions, but if not can a moderator please move it? Thanks! I'm New to both the Sims 4 and Sims 4 Studio. I had a question. In each item, or each CC, there are tick boxes for "Allow For Random" "Restrict Opposite Gender" and "Restrict Opposite Frame". I had no trouble batch processing "Allow For Random" but what about the other 2? Sometimes items have as many as 60 color swatches! Do I have to tick the 2 boxes (Restrict Opposite Frame and Restrict Opposite Gender" for EACH color swatch? Or will checking the boxes for the first colour do it? I'm trying to get my game to not allow Townie Sims to wear female clothes on men and men's clothes on women, as well as gender-specific items like hair and jewelry. But if I have to tick both boxes for every colour swatch, I will spend an eternity doing that. shareit.onl/ appvn.onl/

Under the tick boxes that you're referring to, there should be a button for "apply to all swatches" which you can click once you make a change to a single swatch and it will do exactly that. Quick warning! Make sure you have a backup copy somewhere. S4S does this automatically when doing batch fixes but it WON'T create a backup before you change things manually. Typically, it should be fine, but I've had simple changes screw up my file before, making it inaccessible, so just make sure you have backups of all your CC first! To be honest, I have limited knowledge but my impression is if you could open it before in S4S and then suddenly S4S can't open the file after you changed something, then you've corrupted it. Personally, I don't recommend allowing most of your CC for random because the game will strongly favor all of your CC over EA's official options and while that might sound good in principle, in practice it's not that great. I've found that a lot of Simmers don't always tag things correctly, so the game will start giving you mismatched eyebrows with most of your hair (which can be fixed manually with S4S but it's such a pain because you have to go in and choose "black" tick box for the black swatch and "red" for the red swatch if, for example, they recolored the dirty blonde swatch and didn't change it so now every swatch is genetically tagged for dirty blonde. You'll even need to untick the dirty blonde, tick something else, then tick dirty blonde again before saving or it might get mad and F-up. I've had that happen before.) There are also potential issues with some textures conflicting when wearing multiple accessories (Kijiko's eyelashes hate anything trying to use the same texture space and it's something like a ring slot, earring slot, glasses slot, or whatever; accessories can be the biggest nightmare) or the Sim is trying to wear a hat with a CC hairstyle that doesn't have hat chops/has very specific hat chops for an overlay, or you may have CC Ombres on hairstyles it doesn't really work with. I would consider removing it all from random with another batch fix and then temporarily move things so you can run a smaller batch fix to allow random for certain hairstyles, clothing, eyes, etc that you trust and want to see everyone wearing because a whole lot of townies will be wearing them, trust me lol. Back when I had less CC I got so sick of seeing them wear even the hairstyles I loved because there'd be at least 5 randos with it and I'd see them everywhere. This is just my personal opinion but it's basically why most CC creators have taken to removing their items from random in the first place. If you narrow it down to a particular selection, it's also fewer boxes that you have to tick and then get frustrated with if for some inexplicable reason it didn't like what you did. (lol restricting might not have any issues but another reason I hate manually geneticizing things is how often I've ground my teeth fixing all of it, saving, and checking it only to find it flubbed up and refuses to open now... I think basically you can't have two genetic hair colors or two genetic eye colors ticked and it's easy to miss when changing a bunch at once but still frustrating. I've had it refuse to open things after I manually tried randomizing a piece of CC so I just don't try doing anything myself unless I'm determined. I've even had a necklace get mad at me for trying to tag it for the stupid color search and it wouldn't open so I gave that up right quick; I didn't feel like doing it 10 times until I got it to work. Now I only fuss with genetics when I feel like it; there's also a color search tick box that I just don't touch on hair or eyes.) That said, if you really want, for example, all of your CC hair available for random, just make sure any hair-specific hats (like a headband overlay), ombres, etc that would be more finicky aren't mixed in. You'll still have to fix all of the restriction boxes and depending on how much CC you have, that could take a while, so narrowing the pool can't hurt IMHO. If you're still determined to have it all available for random, then good luck and a lot of patience.

Hi, sorry to bring this back up.
Are "Restrict Opposite Gender" and "Restrict Opposite Frame" only applicable for randoms? Or does it impact what shows up in CAS?
I want to ensure the clothes in CAS matches the gender and I'm not sure if this is where this is flagged.
Thanks
