I've got a doubt: when texturing an object, should I resize or not a HDR texture (i.e. 4k/8k) to get the best effect of it? My first instinct is to resize it and create a pattern, but maybe I'm wrong...

Hi. I’m not sure if you’re using the wrong word or have some very peculiar project in mind, but hdr images are used for the environment. You do not use them to create a pattern, you do not need to resize them. If you do not see the image after plugging it in the shader, switch from orthographic view to perspective (click NUM5 in the 3d view)

I wanted to say that I downloaded high resolution textures, some of them are 4K and others 8k. I want to use them to create diffuse maps to texture my mesh. Now, my AO is 1024x1024, so I was wondering what is best: to use the textures in their original size or resize them to, let's say, 512x512? I want my object to have clear and crisp textures. Also, sorry for my poor english , let me know if my explanation is comprehensible.

There’s no need to resize them manually, you can change the size, rotation and the position in the material properties. - File - user preferences, type node wrangler, enable it, save user settings. This addon allows you to use shortcuts in the node editing window, which makes it easier, but I do not remember in what version it was added, so if you do not have it in yours, you just need to add these nodes manually; - switch to Cycles rendering engine; - expand the animation panel, in the bottom left corner switch it to Node editor - add a new material and choose Use nodes if the nodes do not appear on their own; - Ctrl-T -LMB-click on the diffuse shader for the rest of the nodes to appear (ignore the red circle ) - add your texture in the image texture node, in the Mapping node adjust the settings to your liking

I've got one last question: once I'm done with adjusting the settings of my texture, how do I save/export it?

Switch to Render tab, unfold Bake, choose Texture in the drop down menu, set margin to 5, hit Bake

Switch to Render tab, unfold Bake, choose Texture in the drop down menu, set margin to 5, hit Bake I'm so dumb... When I'm in Cycles Render everything is ok, but when I switch to render tab there is no shadow of the Bake button. It's only there when I'm using Blender Render, but then my bake comes without the texture T.TBeing dumb again, I think I understood what I was doing wrong. Now it should be fine, thank you so so much!!
