I've been following this tutorial: and it's been super helpful, but now I'm stuck at 46:10. She talks about appending the custom mesh (which I assume is the clothing mesh she's working on), but I keep getting an error, and I can't seem to get rid of the sim body like she does. Next, she goes to make that image for the UV editor (the solid black square). I can do that, but it foes away the second I enter edit mode and I can't get it to come back. Next, she goes over changing the material, which I think I'm doing right, but I have no way of knowing because everything else is wrong (and I still have the sim's body in there). Finally, she bakes it. However, she seems to be able to switch from edit mode to object mode without ruining her UV editor image, which I can't seem to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi. You should watch a different tutorial because the author of this one makes a lot of mistakes/shows impractical ways of doing things. A lot of people come here after watching it and have to re-do everything Anyway, what she does is append a shirt from a different blend file. We need to see what type of error you are getting. You should not be appending a meshgroup from the same file or an .obj. To assign a background to the uvs, you need to select them first with A, then choose the image We also need to see what you mean by “ruining uv editor”. Uvs are only visible in edit mode, after you switch to object mode, they disappear Anyway, try looking for tutorials where the author does not tell you to download 2.7 version of blender. This is a good indication they are new to cc making and the tutorial will not differ from this one

Everything Mauvemorn said is spot on. So, you're in object mode when you set a black background image in the UV editor but when you go into edit mode, that black image is gone, right? Notice how if you go back into object mode the black image comes back? If you want the image to be there while you're in edit mode, you have to create the black image while you're in edit mode. Simple fix. Edit: I'm taking a look at this video because I downloaded it to review later, so was curious about it. It looks like she doubles the mesh then flips the normals instead of closhing the holes in the mesh. What she did, as she points out, doubles the polycount. Closing the holes is a much better method. And the part where she says to append the custom mesh? If you look, the file name she chooses is something like "ref.blend." I'm not sure if that's the EA mesh she cloned, but if not, it's likely the shirt she made before it was joined with the body. She seems to skip steps of boy, oh, boy do I love it when tutorials do that!

Im on mobile and can’t see, but why did she append the reference when it’s not in the view/hidden...? Maybe she imported lights?
Edit: I've just checked and it seems to me like this is some random part that she just did not cut out from the video, she either does not import anything or it is a part of a previous video fragment. She did not select anything and click append , so I guess just ignore it?

This one is good in some respects but leaves out a ton and underexplains things and teaches mistakes. At about 46:00 or thereabouts, I think she's doing what's detailed here. It appears she has everything set up and saved into a blend file, and all she's doing is opening that blend file and then bringing in her custom mesh to bake the satin texture.

I decided to remiss some things, so I'm bot quite done, but it did appear to bake (though I didn't look exactly like it did in the pictures). Hopefully it works!

Thanks got your help!
