Now prior to doin any updates, I generally remove saves, cc, mods and update with a clean ea folder to prevent snags and snares. The past two decent sized updates I get a "file corrupted" issue. When this issue happens, the update naturally can't complete and the game then can't load. When I try to repair the game, it begins to repair like normal taking a few seconds per pack to 'repair' or reinstall and then origin starts to lag and suck up 95% cpu , the sims 4 icon "breaks" it becomes likee a broken image at the task bar where the sim 4 plumbob usually is. The repair download virtually slows to an crawl and repairing the game with all packs would take somewhere between 12-18 hours at its pace. I have repaired this game with all packs a great many of times and it doesn't take this long to repair it,I can't say I have timed it before but it couldnt have been 15 minutes max and the origin never lagged or bogged down during install . I end up having to shut origin down , restart the computer run in administrator ,let just the base game "repair" and then by luck the sims 4 icon is back and I finally finish the update. I really can't pinpoint a reason my origin or the game would cause these kinds of problems during updates, but if anyone has had similar experiences with origin it would help if you could point me in a direction of a permanent fix. I have currently cleared my origin cache, run it on administrator , and always follow proper update protocol for a healthy update. Im really at a flustered breaking point, this sucks up nearly an hour of time just for a minor patch that should have been done in 2-3 minutes. I understand this isn't a s4s question, I am literally lookin for hints and tips everywhere on this issue.

From what I've read high cpu usage is a common problem with Origin. I'm not sure if there are any definite fixes, but here are a couple tips I found after searching "origin CPU usage":
Origin Application Settings>turn off "Origin Helper service" Turn off "Share Hardware Info" under Diagnostics
Before doing updates/repairs you could try: Run Origin as admin (might not be needed depending on your PC) Open task manager and go to "Details" tab Right click Origin.exe and select "set affinity" to limit core usage. Select only the last 4 cores if you have 8+ threads/cores in your pc. If you only have 4 total, select the last 3 threads/cores. *These affinity settings won't save after Origin is closed.

I usually kill the Origin app as soon as the game is running. This reduced the CPU and GPU usage from up to 50% to 0. I don't have the problem every time, sometimes Origin uses 0%
Another option is to suspend Origin with ResMon. Anyhow if the game crashes and one needs to restart it the Origin process must be resumed first.
One may even create a shortcut (advanced users) to start Origin with a defined CPU affinity and priority (cmd /c start "" /belownormal /affinity 1 c:\PathTo-Origin.exe).
