I looked at my wood burner after reading this and it too doesn't show its off grid. I wondered if I just added in in S4S it would accept the new status. It's unbelievable that any fireplace with wood or coal isn't automatically 'off the grid' I mean how is a wood burning stove 'on the grid'? The reason I haven't updated my fireplaces and wood burner is that I don't want the industrial tag on them. I worked so hard to make every neighbourhood totally green that I think I deserve at least one house with a fireplace that won't mess with it. Maybe this is why there isn't many about? You could take a woodburner into S4S and go to Warehouse/Object Catalogue. Scroll down until you see Object tool tips. Click add and then scroll down on the right until you find the off grid tag. Click and keep the amount at zero. Save, you could save under a new name such as Off Grid Test or something so you still have the original file if it doesn't work. If it works, great, if not just take it out and put the original back in. Oh one more thing if you have more than one colour you will have to make the change in every single Object Catalogue entry.

Thanks for the advice, the thing is I downloaded this potbelly stove from Nolan-Sims (https://nolan-sims.com/post/180426572633/nolan-sims-here-when-get-famous-came-out-i) and I thought it was allowed for off-the-grid, it wasn't. So I tried opening it on S4S; I am a total noob when it comes to this software so instead of going to "object" I went to "my cc" LOL. obviously I didn't see any off the grid tag BUT I did see the off the grid check box, I ticked the appliance, lights and miscellaneous box, and scrolled down and saw that the "consumes power" box was unticked so I tested it in game and it works! My guess is that furnaces are already coded to work off the grid but because this piece of cc was released before island living, it didn't come with an off-the-grid tag. Thanks for helping even in the way you didn't intend haha. :D
