hello, keelynoodle ! welcome to s4s you can use any program you want, but you will need to export the object from your program and import it into blender. s4s requires blender and will not work with another program. Thanks for the reply! Am I able to UV unwrap and texture in Maya then import that to Blender as well?

Hi! Wonderful tutorial, definitely easy to follow with the pictures! I'm having some difficulties with my mesh. I followed both parts of this tutorial but when i use it in sims parts of the texture go black/brown and it doesn't want to stretch with the ears. It Looks Wonderful in the S4S but looks somewhat strange in the game?

welcome to s4s, orenjinekocupcake ! can you please share a picture of the problem? also your package and blend file? it could be because of your uv placement and vertex paint/weight transfer.

Earring's ComparisonJust to let you know i made a different style of earring from yours, it's specific for an anime series cc im working on. I used blender alot for my own fun before i discovered i could use it for sims, its just connecting everything to match up with the game that can be difficult. Earring PackageEarring Blend File

Hello! I really enjoyed following this tutorial, thank you making it! I tested out my earrings in game, and was wondering why they have a plastic-like and shiny appearance, when this was not the case in Blender? Also, the surface of the hoop looks rounded instead of the mesh's flat surface. Is this supposed to happen, and is there a way I can adjust the shiny and round appearance? I'm new to S4Studio and would be grateful for any assistance you may provide In blender: the surface of the hoop is flat In game: shiny and all the hoop edges look rounded

But to change the shine of your earrings, you have to edit your Specular map.Go to your Textures tab, down below you see: Textures Diffuse Shadow Specular Normal Emission Then select Specular, and import the new specular file, if you don't know how to make one, there is a thread on this forum, that will allow you to download an blank specular file, which will remove the shine. I hope you can find some help for your other issue :-) and ofcourse, i hope this helps haha EDIT: Or just hit the "Make Blank" option *took me long enough to think of that..*

Making the specular blank removed the shiny, plastic-like texture in game Thank you for the tip! If anyone can offer an explanation for my other issue, I'm interested in learning why the roundness of the edges is still there. In S4Studio every texture tab is cleared out except for Diffuse, which has a solid colour for the hoop mesh. In game, the hoop of the earring is flat from a side perspective, like the Blender mesh. However, as soon as I move away from that angle, it appears to have 3D texture, even though I didn't give it one. I would greatly appreciate anyone's input! Images for reference:

have you tried selecting the edges that appear to be rounded and in blender did edge split?

Amazing tutorial! It was great help for my first time using blender! However I always like to make things harder for myself when it comes to following guides so I gave a more complicated shape to my mesh and it ended up ..a mess, that I can't find a way to texture it as I want it. So I decided to start all over & I have a few questions if you guys could help me Is there a way to remove EA's picture from the UV map in Blender & add my own? (more than 1 if possible,so I can give a different texture to the parts of my earring) Can I start my own mesh without using EA's as a base but with EA's model? I hope you guys understand what I mean, english is not my first language

If you replace EA's texture and export the mesh, your texture will show up in Blender. You can completely delete EA's mesh from the scene with the model and begin making your mesh using that scene. The model will not be removed when you delete EA's mesh.

Hi, this is an awesome tutorial series! I completed the first parts, but am stuck on the first step of this... When I select 'My Projects' the earring doesn't show up. So If I go to Applications, then Blender I can see it there but its not clickable (dull) and also its saved as 'earring.blend'..- I guess this is the problem, being .blend and not .package, but I'm not sure why when I saved it it was a .blend and not a .package file... I'm on a Mac :s so I don't know if that has anything to do with it, or I'm just an idiot and there's a really simple solution xP (I'm VERY new to S4s, Blender, and 3D!) (I also have a newer version of blender too, 2.79, but I was working on the earring in 2.7, so not sure why, or if, that would have affected it) Thank you~~ EDIT: ah, nervermind I see it now xDD I'm so stupid Sorry!!
