Hi. I would need some help on changing the washing machines lighting/shader? that came with Laundy Day. I edited the top of the washing machine to match my counter top so when I place it next to the counter, it would blend in and look much better with the same top, so I thought. I placed the exact same texture on top of the washer as my counter has, but when I place it and let go, it will darken. When I grab it, it will get lighter and then has the same brightness as the counter. I already deleted occluders, so that can't be the issue. I know that it is possible to change the shader of cabinets to counters, so they wont turn dark, but that doesn't work for the washer, sadly. Or at least I don't know how. Is there a way to stop the washer from getting darker when placing? Any help would be very much appreciated.
edit to add some pics:

Why doesn't changing the shader for the washing machine work? Does it break the washing machine in some way? I know changing the dishwasher shader stops the animation working. Is it the same case here?

menaceman44 , not sure, I haven't tried in game yet since my first attempt was wrong. In warehouse I clicked Model, then Lods, then edit, then it only shows MediumDetail Flags: Door. In Model LOD it has a Dropshadow and Phong & PhongAlpha. So I'm not sure what to edit. I thought there would be something like just change to counter, like the cabinets, but not so.

Model LOD with a group number of 00000000 is your high LOD and model is the medium LOD. The screenshots below will kind of sort of show you where things are. Where it says "shader" there's a dropdown menu. In the screenshot, it shows Phong. You can change it to Counter. When you get to the screen that shows Phong, PhongAlpha, and Dropshadow, click Phong. PhongAlpha is for transparency so that shader is for the window in the washing machine. Dropshadow is the shader for the floor shadow. It's Phong that you want to click. Keep in mind that you will have to change the shader for both LODs and for each swatch variant for this to work. Hopefully, changing the shader won't break the animation. Cool tip of the day: Delete all but one swatch before making the changes to the shader. That way, when you add swatches they'll be automatically assigned to the shader you want them to be.

Hi and thank you for your reply. No, this is not what I was trying to achieve. I just want to edit the top of the washer and dryer so I can put it next to my counter with the same color top like matching my counter top which is what I did. But as I have written, the washer top shows darker on top because of the different lighting shader, I guess. I was hoping that I could edit the washer like a cabinet using counter shader on the washer and dryer, too, to make it look lighter on top, but I was not able to do so, at least not yet.

Lol thanks. I was already smart enough to do all this but it didn’t work.

Fwecka (Lolabellesims) menaceman44 itsonlythee Update to an old thread that I could finally solve! I finally figured out why changing the "Pong to counter" on my dryer and washer did not work. When I started this thread, I had customized the top of the washer and dryer to match with some of my kitchen counter tops. The packages had just one swatch in each. And here is the issue; because of just one swatch in the package files, the washer and dryer did not have any VariandID: sets to edit, just those 4 Default entries. Two for Diffuse and two for Burned. When I followed the info here given to change the first VariandID: Default, StateID: Default Diffuse from Pong to Counters, it only changed the main Pong name to Counters in the Models view which is why it did not work. So I gave up on it and scrapped it from my To-Do list. But just a few days ago I decided to give it another shot and so I pulled-up those two package files from my graveyard folder and looked at them again. I had the idea to add a second swatch to each package file just to see what will happen in the Model LOD Material settings, and sure enough there were now 2 VariandID: sets entries available to edit, but not with just that one swatch, no clue why. Those two VariandID: sets from the second swatch were showing as Pong and so I changed both of them to counters and deleted the first swatch. And now they work as they should 2 years ago lol, no animation breaking. So, just in case someone else is running into a similar issue may find my find helpful.
