Mmm... I can't achieve that kind of shading just by splitting the edges that supposes to be sharped. I have splitted them. The result isn't the same.
For example:
Am I missing something?

You did not split them, you just marked them as sharp. You need to either select them and Mesh - Edges - Edge split or mark them as sharp, add Edge split modifier, disable Edge Angle, apply. I explained this step in the tutorial

Is the auto smooth has to be turned off, or is it optional?

It must be turned off. You will not know what to split if it is turned on

Alright! The CC of Indonesian High School Uniform is finished! Thank you Mauvemorn for the guidances. I can't go through all these challenges without your help. I've been wanting to make a cloth CC since 2 years ago, since I knew nothing about Blender. I gave up along the way after a few months. Too difficult. Then I pick it up again where I left. The thing that makes me happy is, finally I finish what I have started.
