OK, I don't do maxis match but I do know how to create shadows on a texture. The first is the easy way. Make sure all the object parts you want to show a little shadow are on the uv map without any overlap. so for example the bottom of a bed needs no texture so move it off the map above the uv area. select a blank texture in blender the same size as the uv map, I name mine 0Bake. Then making sure again that all the object parts are laying how you want them and that the mesh is selected, go to World and change the setting in Gather to 18, then back to Render and down to Bake, check its set on Ambient Occlusion, then to the Margin, I use 3 or 4 as this makes for a sharper and more controlled shadow. Then click Bake. You should end up with a texture that is made up of blacks, unseen shadows and greys seen shadows. I export it using Save A Copy in the left hand menu. Don't forget to move any map pieces back onto the uv map after the bake. But this is just the start because those textures are rough. I always lighten then as far as I can, or so I can just see the shadows I want to keep. I flatten the image (unless its a plant or something requiring a alpha thingy) then save it again as 0Bake. this way it's always at the top of the texture list and its used as the template for all the colours. When applying another texture like wood or a colour change your photoshop setting to 'Multiply' this will ensure your chosen texture/colour will cover the shadow texture but you will still see the shadows through it. It takes some practice to be really comfortable with this method and not all objects will provide a map that I'm happy with so I sometimes add the shadows myself. I keep blender open so I can see where the shadows should be positioned and add them using the 'add gradient' tool in layers, again using the Multiply option. Choosing the right colour takes a bit of practice too but everything does and this works well if you have a uv that will just not show shadows where they should be. Hope this helped a bit

OK, Thx. I'm not sure if I'm going to use this or not.
