Well... creating CC is hard. It took me around 3 months to learn how to make a cloth from knowing nothing about Blender, marvelous designer, and 3D in general, etc. It's a lot to learn. The first time I gave up like more than a year ago after a couple of months of trying to make a cc, watching hours of youtube and get frustrated due to knowledge gap. From the cost perspective, the energy spent, the time spent, the electricity, etc... well it's quite natural if some want to exchange their hardwork for money to pay the bills. Money has to rotate somewhere and somehow in order for he/she to keep doing whatever he/she's doing. Or... you can make your own CC. I learn it because noone making the CC that I want.
I release some of my CC for free, because the moderator Mauvemorn has teached me how to make one for free. Like... I asked him/her a lot. So as a payback to the community of this forum. But some I want to put behind the paywall too.

In the past many creators put all of their cc behind a paywall but most were bullied out of doing it.
When one creates a 3d model or an image, they automatically become a legal owner of it, but when one creates a .package file, that becomes the property of EA games.
For that reason TS4 CC creators must follow the rules imposed by EA games in the license agreement, according to which they have no right to put any ts4 game asset behind a paywall. They can make money off it but only in ways where people will still be able to access it for free (early access, ads, commissions followed by public release, etc).
What does not go against the license agreement is taking those game assets and reposting them elsewhere, where people can access them for free. And this is what happens to most of the content that is behind a paywall.
When the content is reposted, the creator has no legal rights to file a dmca takedown because they do not own the .package. They can do it only when people steal the models or images.
if you want to put your content behind a paywall and be able to take actions when it is stolen, create for another games like second life, sansar, imvu, etc.

wOAH, I didn't know about that kind of license agreement before. So... making CC and make it available for the patrons only is against the agreement, if not release to public at the end. (But who's going to impose that -_-?)
And the term of use saying don't upload it anywhere else, basically useless. That means anyone can reupload all CC out there and put it to their own website and place ads or make something commercial out of it. And.. basically there's no such word as stealing content in the context of .package files. |

EA games will not be imposing these rules. People will just repost your content and there is nothing you will be able to do about it because of the license agreement. The only exception is if they will put it behind a paywall as well. Then you can file a dmca stating that this is a violation.
Yeah, terms of use are for your 3d models and textures.
Yeah, that’s what a lot of people do.
If you want to make money off ts4 content, the best approach is google ads on the page + frequent releases.
1). Google ads are not harmful;
2). People will not have to pay you but you will still make money;
3). You will have no competition (do not have to worry how to make people choose you over others);
4). You will not have to worry about pumping out as much cc as possible so that your patrons feel like it is worth paying you;
5). This is the main one: you will be able to make money off traffic cc finds type of websites bring you. Hundreds of thousands of people visit simsdom every week. All of this trafic will be brought to your download page. They will see ads and you will make money off it. Simsdom and you get your money, people get the content for free, everyone is happy

I have doubts that this will ever end." I agree. A while ago I was sent an entire house complete with over 1GB of objects, most of them patron objects. Although it was interesting I looked through all of them before thinking about adding any of them to my game. My conclusion was that most of the patron objects I had in that pack were for builders only. The objects were so poly bloated I doubt that the game would have played smoothly, plus most of them didn't even need to be so poly heavy. One small bedside clock had a UV that was 2048x2048. Seriously? Other things such as rugs, who makes rugs with 300 polys? Most of the detailed objects are from 3d sites that are not designed for the Sims 4. In fact downloading these meshes and then selling them is a violation of most the licenses attached to 'free' 3d objects. And these creators will go after those who sell their objects. I was under the impression that EA games will pursue pay wall creators now, but the evidence shows that I was wrong.

Yes you're right! I've noticed that too that most patreon creators objects are very high poly. I am like you, I too first check every single object bofore I add it into my game, if ever.

To make people want to pay you, you need to pump out a lot of cc. There are four ways of doing it:
- work a lot;
- make poor quality cc;
- frankenmesh from maxis or your own meshes to make new ones;
- steal from other places
In most cases cc is high poly because the author (usually those who make clothing in MD) thinks “they’ll download anyway” or just steals from other places where there are no polycount limitations
EA will never do anything about it because those people bring them money and do their job(to an extent). For example, the sixam set you shared, someone might think “I want this washing machine to function but I do not have the laundry day”, so they will get not only this cc pack but the maxis one as well

I was linking to this set just to show that it is still hidden behind the paywall since dec. 21 and in the comments people asking over and over when he will release it. He has a lot more stuff hidden from last year, even 2020. He is just one example from so many creators who charge money up to $20 Us Dollars for a few furniture objects saying because they made it all from scratch lol, and sadly there are enough people out there who still pay them which is why they see no reason to make it public free. But using the free Studio program or TSRW to create the package files is just fine, i guess.

I hope so. This has been an ongoing for years and not just yesterday. Even though they do not support CC as they say, they should still look into it, , but I have my doubts.

You know what made so angry, (and I wasn't polite have been worrying about that for 3 days) is that the person who sent me the house did so because they know I would never pay for objects. But they thought that some of them would appeal to me. But then I looked and was hurt because they had gone to the trouble to do something great for me and I didnt know if I should say what I found. And then I posted here out of frustration and anger, so I have to own it. I told my friend what I thought as a mesher, and that I could reduce the polys of some of the things if they wanted. I also fessed up to my mini rant here  I am lucky to have generous friends, we are ok and I have reduced a couple of bits for them and me. (Tissue box 12,000+ polys, not 1,200 but 12 THOUSAND! 😂 Now 214 polys.) So the upshot is the maker of said tissue box is blacklisted (and a few more 'creators') by my friend, their game runs a lot better and and we laughed a lot. And I agree mauvemorn, about the ways to make a huge amount of uploads. I have often found myself making things I don't use just to upload them, I started to learn to mesh to make things that I wanted for my game. I try to remember that, after all I love completing something that's good to look at and even better is usable. With my Be Kind To Earth Challenge and trying to recall that the stuff I make should be usable by ME its all kinds of confusion here some days 😂 And @s4splayer I agree with you too I don't think EA will ever do anything either, they seem to reward anyone that makes money out of this game rather than chase them down due to copyright issues, after all remove free Creators and they will sell more pointless stuff packs. @pandamonto creators have been asking for cash since the sims 1, the more things change the more they same the same.  |

Based on EA License Agreement regarding CC. I started to think patreon isn't the right way of making some money to support CC making activities. If at the end it should be given out freely, and can be taken by other people its ownership There's no leverage. It really like trading time for money in a ratio of maybe 1:1 ,if not less. In my experience it's not wise pumping content, especially if we are only a single fighter. We'll burned out at the end. I used to be a blogger with that kind of mindset. But I can't keep up with the ideas and producing the contents. And Google don't reward that kind of effort. I personally don't want to take the same route. But I don't know some people just make it.
