There are mods that can tone it down or you can turn it off completely in game settings. I like the items in there, but the bunnies and piles of dust just kept piling up. I really had nothing else I could do other than keep cleaning or it'd get messy and folks would get negatively impacted. I buy packs more for the build items than anything else.

I regret buying that kit. It overly dusts the active lot. I always turn it off. Cause I can't keep up. And small spaces are impossible to clean. So I turned it off.

I almost always turn it off. For me it seems things get too dusty too quickly and it can take my sims forever to clean a small room. The only time I really use it is if a sim rolls one of the aspirations or I want to make their (and mine) life harder.
