how do you keep the game interesting?

I like to create my own stories for my sims. I think about them as individual characters and think about the dynamics they have with their families/friends. I always add some sort of drama to *spice* things up. If I get bored of a particular save I'll switch to another save and come back when Im feeling more inspired to play with those characters.
