Hello everyone! I just finished editing a piece of custom content in blender, but how do you go from a .blend file to a .package file so I can import it back into Studio? I have scoured the tutorials section of the website, but it's a lot to take in and I'm at a loss. If someone could please explain this to me or at least point me in the correct direction of which tutorial thread I need to read, I would be so grateful for it. Thank you!

Hi I would start with "Start to Finish Object Tutorial For Absolute Beginners." part 1 part 2 part 3part 4In theory, you could start with part 4, because parts 1-3 are on how to make a mesh and unwrap the UVs, which I assume you've already done. However, because S4S has some required settings you need to use in Blender, your .blend might not be ready to go as is, and reading the first sections should help. (Head's up: even if you do your modeling in a newer version of Blender, you'll need to use Blender 2.7 in order to add the necessary settings.)

Hi. You are making content for the game, which means you need to do extra steps to make the item function properly in it. It’s a lot to take in for a reason and we cannot even answer your question straightforwardly without knowing what you made. You should watch or read the most basic tutorial on making an object (if it’s an object) or a CAS item (if it’s a CAS item) for they are made very differently

It's a CAS item. I looked through this section Custom Content Tutorials for CAS and was still at a loss. That is why I said it was a lot to take in. All I need is to be pointed in the right direction. I'm assuming it's under Parts 1-7 of meshing for beginners to figure out how to do .package? The item is currently labeled as a hat and I would like to assign it under Accessories as well. Gibi I appreciate your input. I didn't specify the type of item, but now I know where to look for objects. Thank you!

Oops, I didn't even think to check first The short answer is, if you have a .blend file that has the correct attributes (cut number, weights, etc.), then you start a new .package file with "Create CAS Standalone," and then with the new package open in S4S, go to the "Meshes" tab, and for each LOD, upload your meshes. I don't think it's possible to have an item be both a hat and accessory, you might have to make two versions. The main problem, though, is this will only work if your .blend file is ready to upload, and unless you're editing a mesh that someone made for S4S, that's very unlikely. I really think you'll be better off trying to get through that Meshing for Beginners tutorial, following the steps, before you try working with the cc you have. Buuuuuut if you really want to jump right in, you might try something like this? Start a new package based on a hat Export the mesh of the existing hat as a blend file Import your custom mesh into the blend file Transfer weightsSet cut #'sDelete original mesh, save Open package file, upload mesh in the "meshes" tab

Hi Gibi! Thank you for the guidance and clarification! I'll take a read through the Meshing for Beginners Tutorial and also try what you suggested. Time to make myself a cup of coffee and get cozy in my computer chair :D. Thank you!
