Just started modding, trying to learn. Downloaded heaps of CC. Want to unmerge some of the stuff using S4S but I have yet to actually find ANY CC in my mods folder that can be unmerged using s4s. I've checked on several prior to posting - no manifest but I know a lot of the content was done using s4s (said so in the description), guessing that it was older versions.
Got a LOT of content in my mods folder and I'd love to be able to tweak and clean.
So having said that, is there ANY ALTERNATIVES to s4s to let me unpackage these files? I've been reading through the posts and I've seen a lot of people asking (if there's a solution I didn't find it, so please let me know if there is).

Can you provide an example of what mods you want to unmerge?
There's merged packages and then there's also swatches. Some people go a bit haywire on recolors and you have like 100 colors on a hair... that's swatches. In that instance, you'd go into the individual package file and remove the swatch colors you don't want. Say I gave you a hair recolor that had 50 colors and you only wanted the green versions. You could go into the package and delete the swatches you don't want. There's also people who require recolors to have the original file, so it sorta feels like duplicates. In those instances, you have to keep both files, or you could just add the swatch you want to the original and bunk the recolor.
But if I gave you a package file that was a merge of 100 different hairs (not color swatches), you'd have to use the unmerge for that and then you'd have to sift through 100 hairs to find the hair you wanted and remove the others.

Thanks for the quick reply! As for an example I don't have any one specific package in mind. I'm just trying to learn by using other's work and I wanted to unpackage some of the CC I have that I thought I'd like to tweak. First time it happened, I blew it off as "bad luck" but after it happened consecutively I looked for a solution online but aside from people explaining WHY it was happening, I couldn't find anything. Hence the generic question asking if there was any other way to unpackage files that wasn't using s4s.
Having said that, I just opened up one of my CC folder and the first thing on the list is -Kijiko-SET and it is giving me the exact same error: "The package that you have selected is either not a merged package or it was not merged with a version of Studio that supports un-merging" The file def has swatches but is also comprised of multiple files (all of which have their own swatches). All the files I've tried are similar. So far have not actually found ANY CC that I can unmerge. (I tried taking a screenshot but can't see any attachment options. Don't have any account to post the pic to either).
Since I want to be able to play with all the items, I felt it would just be easier to ask is there any other program or method that allows me to unpackage things when s4s can't?

I don't know if any one thing outside of studio that can unmerge packages. sorry about that... but I do know that Kijiko usually has their items as multiple separate downloads. Did you go to their main website to download? kijiko-catfood.com?
I download the eyelashes from there, I have about 35 separate files for them.

yah, I have a bunch of kijiko files. I just used it as an example cause it was literally the first item I opened after reading your message that showcased the issue. Well hopefully some thing exists. Thanks for trying.
