I dont currently use reshade but I'm trying to figure out if it's actually worth installing? I'd be using it more for photos so because of that, couldn't I just.. take screenshots and edit the photo?
Also, every time I see photos from a game that uses reshade, the shadows are always excessive. Like absolutely everything is outlined in a harsh shadow and I feel like it makes it look weird, is that just how reshade is or is it just the presets that are being used?

Reshade and it's better counterpart Gshade can enhance the look, but excessive shadows is presets. I don't use them, but have played with both and it can help the game look good. Many folks have problems with them because they increase load times and can make a good pc turn potato.
I don't use them anymore because I almost always end up in photoshop anyway and adjust all of my photos with batch processes in one go. Basically I'm lazy and photoshop for me is easier to use than constantly fiddling with gshade/reshade presets.
