I was following this tutorial Chain Necklace Tutorial, but I always get stuck at the part where I am trying to fill the necklace with the array of chain pieces. I can never make it line up correctly Blend File. How do I make it link together?

hi macaronimuriel, i took a look at your blend file but i can't really tell you what's wrong. what i can tell you is that your problem is caused by the bezier curve you are using to make the shape of the necklace. something about it is broken but i can't see what it is :( when i added a new bezier curve and set the origins & 3d cursor like the tutorial said, it all worked perfectly fine. so i would say try adding a new bezier curve and make a necklace out of that. a generally good idea for practicing this technique would be to first try to fit your chainlinks on a plain bezier circle that you haven't moved around and transformed a lot, as well as use a larger size for your chainlink pieces so they are easier to see. once you have worked out the basics on a large and simple scale you can always make things smaller and more complicated. here is your blend file with some additions i made. i copied your chain piece and made it a bit bigger so it is easier to see. then i added a slightly deformed bezier circle and a bezier circle shaped like a necklace and assigned your chain piece to them following the steps from the tutorial. as you can see, there is no alignment problem.

nougatpocket Thank you! I will try it on a new bezier circle that hasn't been moved yet and see if it works. hi macaronimuriel, i took a look at your blend file but i can't really tell you what's wrong. what i can tell you is that your problem is caused by the bezier curve you are using to make the shape of the necklace. something about it is broken but i can't see what it is :( when i added a new bezier curve and set the origins & 3d cursor like the tutorial said, it all worked perfectly fine. so i would say try adding a new bezier curve and make a necklace out of that. a generally good idea for practicing this technique would be to first try to fit your chainlinks on a plain bezier circle that you haven't moved around and transformed a lot, as well as use a larger size for your chainlink pieces so they are easier to see. once you have worked out the basics on a large and simple scale you can always make things smaller and more complicated. here is your blend file with some additions i made. i copied your chain piece and made it a bit bigger so it is easier to see. then i added a slightly deformed bezier circle and a bezier circle shaped like a necklace and assigned your chain piece to them following the steps from the tutorial. as you can see, there is no alignment problem.
