I am very new to this and learning as I go so please remember that. I made 25 recolors of OM's Sims4 Studio 3 tile recolorable painting mesh. I did this separate and now I am thinking that I should of done them as swatch to reduce space in my game. I am seeking help on what to do. I hate to re do all of these again, but if I have to I guess I will. I need expert help since I am soooo new to this. Thank you in advance.

You can place all paintings in one place by giving all of them the same Prototype ID. Before starting, copy all of you Package files, for as anything go's wrong. Then you will still have your original files. Now first open one of your paintings. - Click on Warehouse. - Search for a line called Object Catalog and click on it. - In the right window, scroll all the way down and just behind the Placement Flags (Check boxes), you will see a line called Prototype ID- Copy this line to a txt document or word or something. - Then open all of your other packages and place this Prototype ID on all other packages too. After this you can merge all packages toghether, so you will only end up with one package file. - Open The Sims 4 Studio - Go to Tools- Click on Merge Packages- Click on Add to add all of your packages. - Click MergeHope this will help you. If you got any more questions, please ask.

Bakie this will not merge them together in the game correct? In order for me to put some as a group I have to re do them and do them as swatches correct? Is it better to merge them as you suggested because they are paintings or to re do some and make them as a swatch? The reason I ask is because I read a tutorial by orangemittens and she had stated that she would not do it to paintings and some objects because it cause the design tool in the game not to work. I was looking for a quick way but safe way to combine some of these.

The first thing I describe with the Prototype ID, will put them together in game, but then you've got that design tool problem. The second thing with the Merge tool, won't put them toghether in game. It just makes 25 files into 1 file but without changing anything in game. So the best way to solve everything with a working design tool would be to re do them as swatches. But as you already have each texture file, this could be done quite quickly I think.

Bakie Would I have to go thru each step again like 1. export texture 2. open paint copy paste picture save as 3. then import or could I just import texture and add a swatch?

Hi panuts, since you already have the images made you can use the original images rather than exporting them from each of the .packages that you've made. Choose one of the .packages and open that one up. Click the Add Swatch button and import the first of the original images that is different than the one that is already in the .package. Add another swatch and import the second of the original images that is different than the two that are now in the .package and so on until all 24 of the images that weren't in the .package to begin with are added. Save the .package and check it in the game. All 25 images will now show up on one painting catalog entry. I would recommend doing it that way, using the original images, rather than exporting each of the images out of the .package and saving them again. The reason is because images undergo a compression step when they are made into .dds. This step occurs when you save them as .dds in your 2D editor. If you saved them as .png this step occurs as Studio converts the .png to .dds so that the game will accept them. Compression of an image results in loss of data. An initial compression usually results in a loss of data that is cosmetically acceptable but repeated compression causes more loss of data and the result can be visually unsatisfying.

Orangemittens Sorry I am a little confused. I wont have to use paint at all to do this right? I will use my dds files? I open a package in my projects, click at swatch, then import at this stage is where I use my already created dds file right? So sorry but I a new this . oops after re reading what you wrote I think I got this wrong. when I had used paint I just opened the jpeg copied and pasted over the image of the picture frame then I had saved as then imported to studio. I never kept a copy of the resized image that I used. I did a complete boo boo didnt I ? I do have the .package file and the dds file of what I created. But I do not have anything saved in paint.

You saved a .dds image that you imported into Studio for each painting that you made. Unless you deleted those from your computer these are what you can import into Studio again. Open one of your .packages. Click the add swatch button. Import one of the .dds images that you imported into a .package before. There is no need to re-do the images...you can use the exact same ones you used to make each of the individual paintings. This will not require any further use of Paint since you already made the images and they are ready to go.

I'm so glad to hear you got it working I wrote a tutorial showing how to get a free One Drive account and use it to share files online. That is posted HERE. It covers how to get the account, how to upload your .package to the account, and how to post a link to the .package so others can download it
