I am at a loss. I spent hours, literal hours scouring the Internet for answers as I am completely new to creating CC and have absolutely no idea what I’m doing!😃
I eventually figured out some programs I would need: S4S, Blender, and some kind of photo editor. My first problem was that S4S kept saying I had the wrong version of Blender, so I kept switching to older versions and newer versions until I realized I just needed to switch the pathway in settings.🤦🏽♀️
After this, it STILL wouldn’t work so I just completely uninstalled everything, reinstalled the most recent compatible versions of S4S and Blender, and it worked! My file from S4S transferred to Blender and I worked on it for hours. Then I went to transfer it back. It transfers as making the sim have nothing but arms, legs, and a head. For reference, I edited two ‘body clothing’ items together to make a dress I thought would be pretty, and I spent hours doing it. Every tutorial I can find on this subject is way outdated, and they all had something called S4S editing options which is not something the new Blender has. I have seen people talk about ‘cuts’ that need to be named or something for it to work but I have no idea what that is. In general, I just really want answers. Why isn’t it importing back into S4S??😭 Please help me out if you can, and thank you in advance.

Hi. A number of things can lead to the mesh not importing, so we need to see the files. Please always provide the blend file that is causing you problems and the package in which you can’t import It can be: 1). The garment is not joined with the body (judging by your description, it might be it); 2). The imported garment is projecting no textures, so it appear as if it was not imported (if you replaced the skin of the avatar in s4s, it can be it); 3). Absent or incorrect cuts; 4). The number of meshgroups does not match; 5). The meshgroup(s) is hidden or unselectable. Cuts are the most important thing about this whole process, without them the mesh will simply not import no matter what. If the tutorial you watched did not cover this subject, you should forget everything and watch a different one. If you haven’t finished the tutorial yet, you may be importing the blend too soon sims4studio.com/thread/13120/cut-numbers-easy-explanation

Hi again,
Ok so I'm sorry I didn't post the .blend and .package files- I didn't even know I could do that so please bear with me here. 1) Ok, how do I check if that's the case and if it is the case, how do I fix it?
2) I don't think I replaced the skin because I don't even know how to replace skin; this is my first ever mesh/edit/whatever it's called haha.
3) I am so sorry but I genuinely have no idea what that means or what you're talking about. I don't know what cuts are or where to find them or how to use them, the tutorial didn't say anything about them but everyone in the comment section was saying how it was such a good tutorial and it helped them. All the tutorials I could find were outdated; they all used old versions of Blender that had different interactions than mine, so it was somewhat impossible to know if I was doing everything right when sometimes he would do something in the tutorial and I couldn't find the corresponding icon in my Blender to do the same. The tutorial you attached is outdated, it has S4S tools in Blender; this is something that is not present in the recent version of Blender that was released, so I can't use it.
4) How do I fix that? I thought I joined them together while I was making it but I could be wrong.
5) How do I know if that's the problem?
This is the tutorial I used: And let me try to attach the .blend and .package files for you in another reply because I can't seem to attach them here. Sorry to be so much trouble, I'm just really inexperienced. I genuinely have researched as much as I could.

s4studio cas tool are present in the newer versions and are in the same tab, they are just called s4studio mesh tools now. If you do not have it, it means blender has no s4s plugin. this is what it looks like now Normally when blender has no plugin, one cant even export the blend, yet you seem to be able to even import something ( as in, the preview updates in s4s) If you indeed have no s4studio tools, could you please show me your s4s settings? well, this is why we ask for the files lol. Easier and faster to take a look and tell the exact cause than explain how to check every possible one. You need to upload them on the file sharing website like mediafire.com and share links

Ok, after seeing your picture I was able to find the S4S editing tool thingy! I see the part that says cut, so I'll look at the other tutorial you linked with that in mind. The links are below: Let's see if I did this right haha; Dress Blend File: 1drv.ms/u/s!Ahxe5b-JPu3xbS_QNYLQZbRMePk?e=rsg60u Dress Package File: 1drv.ms/u/s!Ahxe5b-JPu3xbOrc8pTE0pDpyK0?e=Cix8Ri Swimsuit Blend File: 1drv.ms/u/s!Ahxe5b-JPu3xagAHHAYXBhBO6bU?e=cuGC4D Swimsuit Package File: 1drv.ms/u/s!Ahxe5b-JPu3xagAHHAYXBhBO6bU?e=sii21o When I combined the files in Blender: 1drv.ms/u/s!Ahxe5b-JPu3xb7uY31XqaFFRjPw?e=Wz1wrx
Edit: I know only the first part of each link is highlighted but you have to copy and paste the whole thing for it to show up.

Ok so I've read the tutorial on cuts and I still don't understand. I didn't add any of my own 'mesh groups,' I only used EA mesh groups, so I don't have any new ones to name cuts for because I only used what I started with. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but I hope you understand what I mean haha.
Edit: I also tried resaving it as a new file and importing that starting with the dress in S4S, but it only imported the dress piece of my dress and swimsuit combination. But if I import it starting off of the swimsuit in S4S, it shows nothing but lower legs and a head. Any idea why this happens?
I feel like I'm losing out on the hours it took me just to make those small changes. Will I have to restart and do it all differently? Also, the mesh for the swimsuit and the mesh for the dress were combined in Blender because I was originally following that tutorial's instructions.

Ok, so there is nothing wrong with White dress.blend and it imports with no problems in my case. Try this and tell me the result please: - open this blend, select s4studio_mesh_1, switch to Edit mode ( TAB) select everything with A, press S X 2. This will make the neck bigger, it will be easier to tell whether the mesh imported or not; - File - Save as, name it "test"; - open Dress _Package_.package in s4s, import the test.blend. If you were importing in a swimsuit package, that may have been the problem; - screenshot the updated preview in s4s and share with me please Also, this is unrelated to the problem but in the future you should select the areas more carefully before deleting or duplicating them. The meshes should not overlap

Yeah I was definitely confused in figuring out which pieces of which mesh to delete; I still don't even know how I managed to do this whole mesh haha. I kept accidentally deleting skin too 0_o Anyway, disappearing skin aside, I followed your instructions and this is the result: Screenshot of S4S: 1drv.ms/u/s!Ahxe5b-JPu3xcl9uaVMmUAd44wg?e=i8h9s3 So, when I started with dress _package_ as usual, she started out with her whole body being blue... that's new haha. I ignored this, and proceeded to import the test blend, which didn't seem to change anything.

It seems like s4s cannot access skin files which is in no way related to the blend. Either the game path is wrong or the game is corrupted. Make sure the path leads to the installation folder of the game and stops at \the sims 4\, not \the sims 4\game\bin If this won’t work, try repairing your game

Here, I took a screenshot of all my paths. Also, I'm not sure if this is relevant but the no skin issue only happened after the new infants update for the game. When I tried it before the update (yesterday morning), the skin was showing up fine, just not the white dress blend file. I also got this error message today when S4S opened up; that's new since the update too. The paths look fine. Ok one last thing. Since the skin is not visible, we can’t see the change in the neck’s width. So instead of the neck, can you make the whole dress bigger? Just select it in edit mode, press S X and make it a bit wider so that it is obvious. If the dress will update after the import, then all is fine and you just need to wait for s4s to update (you can try deleting s4s folder from Documents and restart s4s to see if it will fix the issue, though)

Ok, so I made the dress bigger in Blender and it showed as bigger in S4S, but it still won't show the skin or, more importantly, the sleeves that I edited onto the dress from a swimsuit in Blender, which was the whole point of any of this-- giving the dress those cute little sleeve/straps I got from the swimsuit. How do I get those sleeves from the swimsuit to show up?
Edit: After deleting the S4S from my documents folder, the skin thing fixed and the error message went away, but the sleeves still won't show up :/

The straps from the swimsuit are texture based and S4S does not import textures from the blend file. You’d need to edit the diffuse texture and import it in s4s yourself

How do I do that? Is there a tutorial?
