Hello there!
I am struggeling with one of my wips. I want to make the backpacks wearable and it works tuning-wise. But for the CAS item I got stuck unfortunately.
I made the CAS backpack item based on the infant carrier which is in the "Back Attachment" category (hidden ingame). But when I make my sim wear the backpack ingame, it just vanishes (2. vid).
One solution would be to use another category like "hats" and put the backpack texture in the hat area of the sims uv template. It works which is great. But the texture quality is lacking so much when doing it like that (1. vid - doesn't show the actual texture as I was just testing when I recorded this).
So does anyone know how EA made the infant carrier have their own diffuse texture instead of putting the texture in the sim uv template?
I would appreciate every info I can get on this Thanks in advance!

The infant carrier doesn't appear to use the CAS map though it does have weights, vertex paint, and a uv_1. The problem with putting things in the hat category is that when you put a hat on your sim the hat will pick up textures from the backpack, assuming the sim is wearing the backpack at the same time. But, as I said, the CAS map doesn't seem to be in use for infant carriers, so just make your diffuse the same size as the infant carrier's. You may be able to use a smaller or larger diffuse but I always think it's best to do things the way EA does them. If you need more help share your files.

Hi. Those maps have a different type, 00B2D882. Presumably this is what makes it possible to use external textures. However, i was not able to successfully do this, neither by changing the type of an existing map nor by re-categorizing the backpack carrier. You can ask www.littledica.com/, who was the first one to bring this to attention of developers, if he was successful at that I think the support for this feature is either unfinished or it works in a different way. All i did was make the backpack appear in CAS and it looked like this

Yeah I know that's the reason why I don't like to put it as a hat or the likes and to keep it as back attachment with the same diffuse mapping as EAs carrier. I moved it to the head area just for testing because as back attachment, it never shows on the back. I don't get any errors so I think the game reads the standard "CAS sim uv template area", instead of the separate diffuse. So it becomes invisible ingame, because there is no texture there of course.
I'll send the files as soon as I am back on my laptop

Thanks for testing and putting time into this!
That's exactly how it becomes ingame when I switch the category. I will ask littledica if there is a solution to this. I didn't know that it was already brought up to the devs. Google/Forums told me nothing when I searched for this problem
it was mentioned only twice, so no wonder you could not find anything I did ask the developers to look into this, just in case something is wrong with the packages after all

They don't work correctly in CAS (just as EA original ones don't), but they do work when set in tuning as long as the group on the CAS part is set to 0 and it stays categorized as back attachment. I'll change the next version to not set the group to 0x80000000 when cloning this type of item.

Oh that's awesome!! Thanks alot! <3
I did try changing the group of the Diffuse to 0x00000000 but it didn’t work. Didn't thought of changing the group of the CAS part. Will try it out today after work :D

OH MY IT'S WORKING!! :D I am so happy right now!!
I had to change my appearance modifier though, because I had it as "set_CAS_part" before and it still wouldn't show. I changed it to "set_sim_attachment_part" and it shows :D

You mean the outfit type in the "Categories" tab? I changed it to Hat. Something appeared in CAS but nothing appears on the character when I choose it:
