hello, I have restarted this dress a dozen times, please tell me where I am going wrong, which step I am missing, I did have some issues with the collar/unwrapping it, because it doesn't look like there are two edges to join. But even so, it is not morphing with the body correctly so I think I have bigger issues. I have created a cheat sheet for the tutorial, maybe in that you can find what I am missing? here is the link to that. Here is the link to my package, testing it, in game

The uv_1 did not transfer. You need to hold Shift when selecting UVs button ( step 10 ).
You dont have to unwrap the collar the same way, but this is how maxis does it and it was also an opportunity to show how to use Sticky selection Its not a big deal, but it is best to select areas of the body covered by clothing more carefully. The more you delete, the more space there will be for the garment's uvs. Bigger uvs = better textures
Everything else is correct ( although i should mention that the uv layout differs between feminine and other frames, so it is best to use different templates ) How to make an item move and morph by transferring weights, uv_1 and vertex paint
Transfer weights, uv_1 and vertex paint with Data transfer. The result may not always be perfect, but it is best to solve problems as they come:
- Unhide the reference. It must be visible* ( eye icon ) and selectable* ( cursor icon );
- Select your hair;
- In Modifiers tab add Data transfer modifier;
- Choose Reference as Source object;
- Enable Vertex data and expand it;
- Enable Vertex groups*;
- In Mapping choose Nearest face interpolated;
- Enable and expand Face corner data;
- Enable Colors*;
- Shift*-click to enable UVs as well;
- In Mapping choose Nearest face interpolated;
- Expand UVs, choose uv_1 in Layer selection ( don't forget, otherwise uv_0 will be overwritten as well);
- Click on Generate data layers*;
- Apply the modifier;
- In Data tab expand UV maps. Double-click on UVmap, rename it to uv_0;
- If uv_1 appeared, it most likely transferred successfully;
- Expand Color attributes. If you see color0, it transferred;
- Expand Vertex groups. If you see names of vertex groups, they most likely transferred successfully. However, there is one ( or two ) more thing(s) you need to do;
- If you're using Blender 2.76 - 2.79, 3.6.1, switch to Edit mode, select everything with A, Mesh - Weights - Clean with Subset set to All groups to fix the result of a bug that exists in these versions;
- Regardless of your version of Blender, in Edit mode, with everything still selected, do Mesh - Weights - Limit total.
* Data will not transfer if you will forget to do these steps!!! | |
" 36 UV'S LAYER SELECTION-uv_0" I assume that this was a typo, but just in case, it should be uv_1

I have got to the part where i was able to get the dress in game, it works, but you lost me in making the texture file, my texture file just shows up with dark black shadows, or it also makes the body part I gave up for awhile, I worked so hard on getting this far, and I want to continue, but I can not get any further. This is very frustrating. I have only been able to get your dress to work, any of my own creations are not working in game, I have tried many different outfits. Here is my texture files...https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ao4RzIAHKGpJrYBc0GkRmOCClk6LQQ?e=eZOrYw

Remove the background with the Delete button on your keyboard. You can always google the question (how to remove background in photopea ) if you are not familiar with basic shortcuts, they are the same everywhere. If you need a more detailed tutorials, there are other ones online

Sorry for the wait - make sure you have the latest beta version of s4s, download blender 3.6.7 ( dont use 3.6.1, its bugged, not blender 4 either ), change blender path; - download this mesh and this video. Please follow it on the provided example first to not create yourself obstacles. This is a start-to-finish process, you do not need to do any extra steps ( like use 2.7, vertex paint manually, etc ). I used photopea for image editing but you can use photoshop if you have it; - once you get the basic idea, you can look up tutorials on baking realistic materials; - you should also look up how to bake textures from high poly meshes to low poly. Heres an example for an old blender but there are plenty of them for the new one. This is what makes the garment look and behave good; - when creating in marvelous designer, remember that you're making a gaming assets. It needs to be rendered fast, it needs to move and morph. Make low poly clothing that is not loose in the armpit area. If there is nothing like what you have in mind among maxis items, dont make it, theres always a reason for it ( ponchos, capes, sleeves over fingers, etc) i know this was posted awhile ago but will this same process work for blender 4.1? some of my meshes arent even super high poly but still wont import to blender 2.79 because it is too old

There isn’t much difference between blender 3 and 4 in term of interface. Nothing that you woudnt be able to figure out, I think. that said, blender 2.79 isn’t old enough to not be able to load meshes that are less than 60k ( high enough to crash the game for many people). So unless you’re baking normals, don’t use them

Hi.
Thank you for the tutorial, its one of the fewst with new versions of blender. I got some questions and I hope you can help me.
1 - You first import the LOD_0 from studio for on blender, right? Then you import a .svg (the dress). Why you dindt open it as a obj? Or it doesn't make difference?
2 - The "transfer data" is the same of "transfer weight"?
3 - Where did you get the "feminine fram tamplate"?
I would be glad if you could answer thoses questions and also recomend more tutorials from this theme using newst versons of blender.
Thanks you!

I imported with Wavefront ( obj ), just cut the video too early; 2. I transfer weights with Data transfer modifier instead of Transfer weights tool. Its faster than doing everything separately
I dont think ive ever came across any that use blender 3+.
Another user asked me to elaborate on many steps from this video, so you may find this thread useful
